MLK is a Federal Holiday.

state and local governments can choose whether or not to participate.

Post Offices, banks and schools are closed here. Actually I am not 100% sure on the schools...some are and some aren't.

Tomorrow is MLK day. Post offices, most banks, courthouses, federal offices are all closed. Schools may, or may not, be closed. I think alot of that depends upon where in the country they are located and what their student population is. For example, where I teach in central IN, this is just the 2nd year that we have had a day off on MLK day. And, had we had a snow day prior to this, we would be making up that day tomorrow. Our calendar allows us MLK day and Pres. Day in Feb. but both can be used as make-up days if needed.

our local courthouse is closed, but more rural ones are open. That said, I will drive 1 hr. 20 min. to do a fifteen minute search and then go next door to the closest Ben Franklin, walk straight to the back of the store and fondle the fabric. I have an envelope in my purse with some cash I've been saving. I don't know what I will buy, but I will buy.

It will be a GOOD DAY!

I think most Michigan schools are open tomorrow. The banks PO and federal buildings are closed tho'. DH and I are participating in a MLK day of service project with our local ARC, going door to door in a low income neighborhood, sharing info about fire prevention.
