I see so many pet "quilting buddies" on here. I had a little yorkie named "Tasha". She became ill and after many trips to the vet, she finally had to be put to sleep. I miss her so much. The house is so quiet without her. She was truely a "lap dog". I've been trying to find another one, but not much luck or they're just too expensive and I can't afford it. If someone in Wisconsin or Iowa area knows of a mini or teacup female yorkie, could you let me know? Oh and a reasonable price. I'm on a fixed income and can afford just so much. I thank-you in advance.

So sorry for your loss of your fuzzy buddy.
Think about contacting a rescue group that works with that breed.

LoriEl 03-15-2011 01:30 PM

I feel for you. Their loss really leaves a hole in your heart.

You've touched my heart - we lost our Tasha (full name Natasha) last year - she had a ruptured spenic tumor. Please, please consider contacting a rescue group or shelter. All of our dogs have been rescues, and they make wonderful companions.

Try petfinder.com. You can search by zip code, breed, age and sex.

Aw, I can ask around!

I have a Yorkie which I re-homed and dearly love; but I have three other small dogs that are also rehomed. Two were strays and one we got from the pound. They are all small dogs and have a lot of love to give. Pound rescues are wonderful.

do so empathise with you, it is a bad time.
surely you can get a dog from a rescue/shelter, or approach y/terrier rescue in your area.

I agree, there are lots of small pets out there in search of a home everyday that don't cost as much as a purebred, but an adoption fee, Try a shelter. Save a life!!!

I sure hope that you can find another Yorkie. I have had 3 and I love them. We were not going to get another dog but after having to put down the last little one (Mini) my husband got another dog for me to love. We have a cream Pomeranian named "Foxy Lady" she is a good dog. Foxy will be 1-year-old
April 4th. The house is not the same without a pet.

Hugs

Jen:)

Ah I am so sorry for the loss of your furbaby! My DD had a very beautiful yorkie and she just did not have the time for him. She just sold him for 250. Shelter dogs are wonderful dogs. We have one and she has just been wonderful.

Izaquilter 03-15-2011 05:01 PM

sorry for your loss. I lost my yorkie about 4 yrs ago & a yr later a good friend came thru with a free one for me! I wanted 2 of them (not to be greedy but because I love them so mucy), was going to name them Itzy & Bitzy! So far now I have Itzy. Yorkies are the best dogs I have found & I don't say that because they are a pure bred but because they are such a good true companion. Both of mine have been like 'my boyz" as I called them! Wish you luck in your search..

scowlkat 03-15-2011 05:23 PM

Even if you get another yorkie, it would never be the same as your dear one. Please consider a shelter puppy.

emerald46 03-15-2011 05:53 PM

I am so sorry for your loss. We are a Yorkie family and just adore those little dogs. Do try rescue groups. Also, put the word out among your friends...that is how I got my current shadow. Prev owner decided 6 wk old pup was too much trouble and told my neighbor. Needless to say, Bailey was at my house before the day was over..that was 15 years ago.

Here is a link to the rescue center that a friend of mine got three dogs from. They have been wonderful dogs and would recommend this place to everyone. They place the animals in homes before they are adopted out and they work very well with people. They are very honest about the animals too. They let you know everything that they know about them.
So sorry for your loss. :( Hope you can find a new quilting buddy soon. :)

I am so sorry for your loss. Pure breeds are so expensive. Some times the shelters have pure breds, check with them. Even though you want a Yorkie, you know no other Yorkie would be like Thasa, you might consider an other type of small dog or a "designer breed" from the Shelter. Again, sorry about your loss, and good luck with your search. I am sure you will find just the right companion.

bstroud51 03-16-2011 05:19 PM

I have 4 yorkies children and there are days I would send you all of them, but then one will come and sit in my lap when I need love and once again they own me.

Sorry for your loss of your fur baby.I lost my yorkie mix a year and a half ago and her sister a year before that. We just lost our llasa a few months ago so know the emptiness. But do consider a shelter pet as many are in need of homes orask around as sometimes folks know pwoplw who have dogs that will need to be rehomed. As all my dogs have found me and have not been the breed I would have looked for but have given unconditional love and even picked up that I am hearing disabled and trained themselves to assist me.

I am so sorry for the loss of your fur baby. Sending hugs to you. Hope you find a fur baby soon. The shelters have so many babies to adopt.

My very first yorkie is curled up on my lap sleeping as I cruise this site. I wasn't looking for a dog, but once I saw his face I was hooked. He was a freebie but cost us as much in vet bills as it would have to buy him. That didn't matter....I knew I would never find another one quite like him. He is so sweet, calm, playful and not to mention beautiful. His hair looks like he had a seriously high dollar color job. LOL. He is my baby. My DH says that if anything happens to him, I will have to be hospitalized.
I've owned many dogs in my life...but....I now get it, there is nothing like a Yorkie.

Ldydrifter 03-17-2011 07:10 AM

Yes, Yorkies have an unmatched personality. They are so smart and a true "shadow". I believe she could read my mind at times. I know that I sure do miss her. I thank everyone for their wishes etc.

Monstookie 03-17-2011 08:53 AM

I am a huge advocate for adopting Rescue pups and kitties. All my furbabies are rescues. (2 kitties and 1 dog). And think older pet, not just puppies and kittens. Both my cats were 5 months old and my dog was 3 years old. And everyday, I feel I won the pet lottery. They are the most loving and loyal pets.

ljorange 03-17-2011 03:26 PM

Rescues or shelter dogs make the best pets, they truly are grateful for being rescued and repay it ten-fold.

Crazy Quiltin Robin 03-17-2011 06:39 PM

try to find a local rescue for tiny dogs ...... bet there is one somewhere near you
