101 yr old lady driving and 81 yr old Packard car

This is AMAZING -- she doesn't look or act a day over 81 herself!

An amazing lady, 101 years old driving an 81 year old car; she changes
the oil and spark plugs herself! This is priceless.

Note at the very end of the video clip when she steps on a small red towel
as she gets in the car; the towel is there so she won't dirty the
running board - once in the car she picks up the towel and puts it
in the car so she can use it when she gets out.

What a pistol she is!

jitkaau 03-09-2012 04:21 AM

How wonderful to be that 'together' in body and mind at her age - I'm already falling to bits! The car looks immaculate.

Thanks for sharing. What an amazing woman to be still able to drive at 101!!

Handcraftsbyjen 03-09-2012 07:10 AM

What the article doesn't say about her is that she loves to teach kids about her old cars and will answer all of their questions. She is a nice woman who tells amazing stories and her character is beyond description. My grandparents knew her and I saw her several times around town. Thanks for posting it.

My dad is getting ready to travel to see me in Dallas, TX< from Seattle, WA. We insisted my brother drive with him. Dad first entered Galveston, Tx when he was young and was brought to the US by missionaries from the Phillipines. He arrived in, um, early 1920's, served 36 years in the Navy and every morning fixes breakfast, cleans house, drives his friends if they can no longer drive and visits with friends. He was ready to jump in the car and drive half way across the US. His age? 103. I should live so long and be so active, he wears me out! And I don't have his genes, I'm the step daughter. Everytime I see an active older person it heartens me.

EllieGirl 03-09-2012 05:47 PM

Unbelievable! She doesn't look over 70! How wonderful to be that age, physically fit, and mentally aware!

theoldgraymare 03-09-2012 05:48 PM

That was so cool! I never would have believed she was a day over 80!

adrianlee 03-09-2012 06:57 PM

That is a neat story. Thank-you for sharing. I hope I'm still driving even at 80. I'm 68 right now.

Wish I had my father's 9 passenger Packard we all rode in to visit our Grandmother in Holland, MI. Michigan has great open roads that make driving a joy. We used a touring blanket in the back seat in the winter to keep our legs warm!

Pam S 03-10-2012 08:17 AM

Wow, beautiful car and beautiful lady! She certainly doesn't look 101 and sharp as a tack. I wonder how she does it.

She is amazing! I posted her video on our model T clubs page.
I have always been an Annie Oakley fan but this lady wins with me.

I drive a 1923 Ford Roadster.
I know what she is saying when people see "her" in the car.
The guys aren't the only ones who love cars!!

81 year old car and 101 yr old lady

Hi!
My car and I are no where near your ages, but at 82 I am hoping to drive my Chrysler Sebring convertible as long as she drove her car. I love those " top down" days. If the weather is cold, I turn on the heat full force and if the weather is blistering hot, I turn on the air conditioning to keep the top down.

Oh my, she sure is a "perky" 101 year old. Beautiful car & lady.

judi wess 03-18-2012 05:39 AM

OMG, a blast from my past. This amazing lady is a neighbor of my sister. She is so generous, helped fund the local library, historical museum and many other things in my hometown. My family shopped at her drygoods store, "Dunning's", it had a complete selection of all things needed to sew for the family. Was exciting to see the beautiful streets of Plymouth again.
