103 degrees and climbing
It is just after midday here in Sydney and the temperature in the shade at my back door has hit 103 and the hottest part of the day is yet to come. It is like walking out into a furnace.

Oh my, I do feel for you. I hate it when it gets too hot. Here in my house we only have a swamp cooler/evaporative cooler. I'd never even heard of one until we moved away from Texas. I'd always had air conditioning. Well not always. When i was young, we had electric fans. Funny but the heat or cold didn't bother me that much when I was a child. but now, I'm either panting or going Burrrrrrr.
stay cool hon, if you can. |
Hi busy fingers I'm at work over at Homebush Bay It's pretty warm here and all those people at the "Big Day Out" 160k of them must be feeling it.
I live in Texas. I truly know what that kind of weather is like. Sure hope you can stay indoors and that it is cooler insdie.
I feel for you too. I live in Texas also. Gets hot like that here. I don't like hot and I don't like cold. I don't know where to go, so I guess I'll stay here and gripe. LOL
I'm not big on that kind of heat. However here it's 24 degrees and dropping in Vermont. They are predicting 6 degrees tonight and lower over the next couple of nights. I guess it's the extremes that we all hate. Keep cool!

It must be sweltering out there - I am only 5 mins from the beach and it is soooo sickly. I have the whole house closed up, blinds shut down and fans going full bore. |
We've been watching the Australian Open on TV. Yes, it's scorching! Keep cool!
I'm in Canberra and it's hot here too 40 celcius or 104 farenheit, they are forcasting a late storm and a cooler change, I'm looking forward to that.
I hope some firebug doesn't decide to light a fire, these are the same conditions that led to the firestorm that killed 4 people and destroyed around 500 homes exactly 10 years ago today :( |
We have had two days of respite over here in Perth....yesterday was quite cool and today is lovely too....but will be heating up again for the weekend. Everything round here is tinder dry. We live in the hills....as does my younger sister. Some kids lit a fire on a vacant block in her street yesterday....one house slightly damaged but as you know...they get out of control quickly. Later last night whilst we were on the phone she said some idiot had let off fireworks...(they are illlegal here anyway).....the idiocy of some people astounds me....Stay cool and safe everyone...good weather for sitting quietly at your machine and piecing:)

I wouldn't be able to take that kind of heat. I can't even take the heat of our Northern Ontario summers...and they aren't nearly that hot!

A cool change with little rain - which I might add I stood out in to cool down - has dropped the temp by over 20 degrees. I have just heard on the news that due to the lightning strikes with little rain our area has now been put on "watch to act alert". Not good. While we were sitting out having dinner around 8 pm ash was starting to fall.

Woody: love your avatar .. wish I had a parrot again.
I am thinking of you all in Australia as I put another log on the fire, we had 30 days of under 32 degrees temperatures and an inversion where I live in Western Colorado. Hopefully something will happen to help put out all the fires but yet not flood the land. |
3 degrees and climbing! We are looking forward to double digits below zero with 25-40 mph winds in the next couple days. Still, I function better in cold weather than in hot. I hope you get a cooling trend and that fires are not a problem.
I also live in Vt. weather man said it is 12 degrees. Oh wow and I have to go out today. Looking forward to the Shop Hop in March. It should be warmer then. I used to live in AZ and had my share of triple digit temperatures. I do prefer the cold though. Do not like humidity at all. We should all live in San Diego!
You poor thing!!! I really don't care for those teps. I always prefer the cold because you can always put on more clothes but in hot weather there is only so much you can take off. ;-)
Oh, for just 10 minutes in that heat would warm me to the core. It's been freezing cold here in Maine, zero when I got up and now a balmy 15 degrees this afternoon. I need some warmth.
Saturday night in northeast Iowa the wind chill will be 20- 30 below zero. I can hardly wait.
Here I thought someone had the flu and a horrible fever! lol! Ugh though - that kind of heat is so heavy and hard to cope with!
Last summer in southern California there were a few days that it was 112, to hot for me. I like the Great north west temperatures.
Please could you send a bucket of sun our way???? We are under 6" SNOW with icy blast wind!!! Brrrrr....good day for quilting by a log fire!!!!!!!:) Ok, I know 6" isn't much in the scheme of things...but it is for the UK!!!!!:D
It gets that hot in Iowa, too. We say its good for the corn but last year, the corn dried up in the fields. Stay in where it's cooler and hope the power does not go out.
