Average temps in the summer here in the CA desert are 108. We feel lucky to have a 100 degree day. Of course our winter is time to grow flowers and tomatoes. I can't complain, 3 months of hot and 9 months of soooooo nice.

Every place has its drawbacks. We lived in Benicia, California for 11 years and heard thunder 3 times! Otherwise the rain just gently dripped down. The cool even weather was not at all worth missing out on our Texas thunder storms, heat lighting and spectacular sky fireworks. When the triple digits come we're blessed to be able to go indoors and stay comfortable - and that's only 2 months a year. For 10 months our Texas weather is the best around, particular when it rains.

The town I live in was on the 5:00 news tonight because the Mississippi River is so low that a barge ran aground here. Then our local weatherman said that July had been the hottest month on record here. I believe it! It's supposed to only be in the 80's this weekend & that will feel so good!

But please remind me about all my whining about the heat come about January when it's who-knows-how cold... LOL! Actually, I don't mind the winters here in WI except that they're so long (they start in October & go till at least April) & it gets dark so early (mid-winter it's completely dark by about 4 in the afternoon!).
