12 AM and 12 PM which is during the day and which is during night?
 

What time is it?

I think the 24-hour clock makes more sense because then I know that 12:00 is in the middle of day time (in many parts of the world) and 24:00 is in the middle of the night (in most parts of the world).

I tried looking up "the answer" and just got myself more confused.

Local Solar Time is when the sun is highest overhead at a given spot.

I wonder if there would be any way to synchonize the clocks so that when someone says something happened at 3:15 AM in Moscow, the clock in Nebraska would also say 3:15 am.

Nope. it took me a few tries to figure out when 1900 was the other night. too tired for that. It was a British show of course.

Actually, 00.00 hrs is midnight, then it goes 00.01 hrs etc, onto 23.59 hrs, then 00.00 hrs. I know some do say 24.00 hrs, but I do think that is incorrect. I much prefer the 24 hr clock.

i actually prefer the 24 hour military time... but convention does not work that way. i remember 12 am is midnight because it is the beginning of morning.

At the hospital we used military time for everything.

a.m is morning/daytime or alta meridian before meridian. p.m. is afternoon or after meridian. meridian is middle, or middle of day. latin abreviation for 'after' is p w a line over top. learned this in nursing school. writing scripts (prescriptions) or giving directions in nursing notes it's common to use 'p' for after. c with line over top of letter is equivelant to 'with'. medical jargon is comprised of greek & latin suffixes & prefixes the same as most science based fields. time keeping on global scale is a precise field. and a whole lot of other fun area of esoteric information for trivia fans (such as moí :shock:)

yes. greenwich mean time ..center of global timekeeping. my chat friends in northeast england & southwest holland are 9 hrs ahead of my pacific time zone. my chat friend east of moscow is 11 hrs ahead of my pacific time zone. we start getting confused keeping straight the time in new zealand. yup ..have chat friend there too :D

It can't because the world is round and the earth revolves and orbits around the sun.

Military time is fine but it will never be the same clocked time on opposite sides of the world.

12 am is midnight, 12 pm is in the afternoon

My husband is familiar with the 24 hour clock method, and can use it freely, but me, ugh-uh. If you asked me for the time using the 24 hour clock method, you better give me a few minutes, because that's how long I'm going to need to figure out what time it is according to 700 hours, or 2100 hours, whatever that is. Totally confusing.
