1st Bazaar Experience!

DH and I worked our very first bazaar this weekend. We had a blast!
We have talked about doing it for several years now but other things have always gotten in the way. DH sold lots of his segmented wood bowls and bandboxes, was invited to join a local wood turners group and made lots of new friends.

I sold several items and several customers gave orders for some custom work. I especially enjoyed the father and his two sons giving a special request for their wife/mother with colors and patterns they would like to have. Another mother requested that I teach her how to use her newly acquired rotary cutter. I am flexible and thought that would be lots of fun.

The first 2 hours nothing moved. Then, a young man, about 8, asked to buy one of my candy canes with his money in hand. So, I sold it to him for 25 cents. Then, things started to move.

We learned a ton of things... #1... start in January! :D:D:D All in all it was an enjoyable experience and we decided we will do it again.

What a fun display. I would have enjoyed looking at all your goodies. You have a great eye for merchandizing.

Your items for sale are very nice. You are lucky that your DH also has a hobby that is popular sale items, but different from yours. Hope you make lots of money and have lots of fun at your next bazaar. Your booth looks very inviting.

Thank you for taking us along into your booth! Fun to see the items the two of you have created. Nicely done.

Wish I could have made it! Next year for sure!

Thank you everyone for your kindness. It is so wonderful to share with my DH. When we travel we always map out wood shops and quilt shops to visit along the way. We are each other's enablers (in a good sense!) :D

Hi Margaret, yes, next year for sure. Maybe we could work a table together.

Sounds like you had fun. We went to one a few weeks ago here in NC and at one table a husband and wife shared a booth. She had some nice sewn items and he had items from wood that he made. I bought a beautiful writing pen and (amazingly) a lovely seam ripper. I will cherish both because they remind me of my dad, who made pool cue sticks by wood turning.

DH and I have done 5 shows this fall. He had wood and some leather items and I sold jewelry. We had a blast also you meet so many nice people and make new friends. Most have been local shows but this week-end we went to a large show about 130 miles away. Went up the night before and had such a good week-end. There was like 170+ booths. That's alot of booths for us.
The main things we have learned is meet and greet your fellow vendors, you see some at other shows. But getting to know the other vendors ( we're new, so learning from the experienced) they let you know about other shows and which ones has been good shows and those that are poorly run. You learn new ways to display all the time and make new friends, it's awesome.
Wanted to tell you all the reason I did not take any sewing items this year is because I bought out a lady last Jan. who was retiring from her jewelry. Loved her and her work so I'm carrying on her style and adding in my interests.
I lost my sister last year, Dec.23, and I needed something to do that didn't make me think of her so much. I guess it was a way of helping me cope with my loss.
BUT I'm back to making quilts and such, we are blessed to have a new grand-daughter next month. So sewing is been a joy again!
