Thanks for adding the link! Sad thing s, with the govt. shut down if it's still at the Gerald Ford museum no one will be able to see it!

Wow, beautiful work. I was stunned at the amount of the prize - I think both Houston and Paducah's grand prize is $20,000. I like the fact that the contest was open to all forms of art, and a quilt won!

While perusing the Artprize site, I came across an entry by Fraser Smith - he's the artist who carves quilts out of wood. His work is amazing. It looks like quilted cloth, but is hard, solid wood.

Is he the same artist that has pieces at the Paducah museum? I have seen those and they are amazing!

This is the 4th or 5th year for ArtPrize. And the prize money is a big draw for artists. They have all the different pieces placed at venues thruout the city. There's a voted winner and a juried winner. I've never been, but since we're close, it's always covered by the local media. Was so happy to hear a quilter won!!

Thanks for sharing the link. Hard to believe that is a quilt. And the carved quilt is amazing and hard to believe it is wood. Beautiful work.
