riutzelj 06-01-2012 07:18 AM

congratulations. i had a new friend who is a Marriage and Family Therapist ask me last night what the secret to my 37yr marriage was last night. My answer: pure stubbornness, common values, a covenant with God as well as spouse and love for our kids. What is your secret?

MimiBug123 06-01-2012 09:26 AM

Congratulations to both of you. That's quite an accomplishment in today's world!

Walter'sMom 06-01-2012 11:08 AM

Sunday is our first wedding anniversary - and I am 58!! Together 27 years though. Married life is great - so were the first 26 - it has been a 'woo-hoo what a ride' journey together - we have so much fun together, sometimes no kids means you both get to not grow up! Fur-babies have added to our joy.

JanieH 06-01-2012 11:31 AM

Congratulations! My husband and I were only married 13 years before he passed away - wish we could have made the 43. I am so happy for you, your husband, and your family.

Iraxy 06-01-2012 02:22 PM

Congratulations. Ups and downs are to be expected in 43 years. You are a survivor. Hope it has been wonderful.

Just about the time this thread started, my computer died (doesn't do a laptop much good to be thrown across the room and stomped on by an angry teenager)and then my backup desktop died of old age, then the replacement needed to be returned to the factory for warranty work, so I have been off the internet for what seems forever, so please forgive my rudeness in ignoring you-all. Want to thank all of you for your good wishes. My secret? Stubborness and a lot of forgiveness. I am probably as hard to live with as my DH is, and the rocks in his head fit the holes in mine.
