We have a Strawberry Festival here, but we have it too early in the year for our strawberries, but California is kind enough to share with us. I am a Strawberry-a-holic. I like them best with pound cake and vanilla yogurt. (I must be the only person on earth who can't gag down whipped cream.)

Same here! The Oregon berries are really very sweet and to make freezer jam with them keeps the true taste of the strawberry with you all year round. But they do not "travel" as well as those grown in California - and which are available practically year round. The California berries make a great strawberry pie, being so hugh and firm. Strawberry Shortcake - a Washington State fair specialty.........yummmmm. (Now I'm drooling!)
