Has anyone ever written to the White House to request one of these letters?

You can request one when you reach your 50th anniversary or higher or once you hit your 100th birthday...or something like that.

I requested one for my parents, because my mother always wanted to receive one. I sent it in about 8 weeks ago and haven't heard back yet. It said to submit your request 6-8 weeks in advance.

My parent's anniversary is tomorrow, and Mr. President didn't come thru for me....

Has anyone ever done this...and do they really send a letter to you??

Yes, I did it for my parents' 50th...and also requested it from the mayor. They did come thru. Maybe things are a bit behind due to the weather issues...

Back in 1982 & 1986 I sent birth announcements to the White House for both my sons. I did get a reply (Ronald Reagan)for both of them sending congrats on the new baby.

For my first son, I also sent an invite to attend his 1st birthday party and also got a letter back saying President Reagan's schedule didn't allow for him to attend but wished him a happy birthday.

All 3 of them were "signed" by the President.

So... I know back then they did reply but who knows now days.

Crossing my fingers for you though!

We requested this for my MIL 80th Birthday, but nothing ever received.

May be they are to busy sometimes.

oh darn...I hope they didn't forget us...my mom has always wanted a letter...she told us this years ago....and now that President Obama is there (I know lots of people don't like him), she is anxious to receive her letter from him, because she really likes him as president.

I have received leters for anniversaries and birthdays, including a card for my daughters 6th birthday. Yes, they do send them, very nice cards, must order in advance because of the volume.I'm sure the President has little to do with this, secretaries handle it and the signature is machined as they do thousands. They have been doing this through several administrations.
