ABACUS counter

I made these with 1 thick and 1 thinner yarn.

the larger one, I use to count my steps as I walk.

I count 100 steps and with each completed count of 100, I move 1 of the 10 pony beads forward or separate from the others. When all ten are moved, I know I have walked 1,000 steps. At that time, I move forward one of the pony beads from the other section. By doing this, I don't forget how many total I have walked , It is obvious if all 5 beads in one section are all together in a moved area, I have achieved 5,000 steps. If there were 3 moved, and 2 from the other section, I would of walked 3,200 steps.

the smaller one stands (Each of them) for the one cup of liquid (Water is best) one needs to drink 8 times a day. Thus the smaller one has 8 pony beads.

just look at the picture and you will see how easy it would be, should you want to make your own.

What a great idea.

I have b ad lungs (34% capacity and COPD) and need to exercise all I can ( I break up my walking and try to get in 4,400 steps what = 2 miles) when I can. I know I dont' drink near as much as I should, thus the reminder with the 8 pony bead counter. Inexpensive way to get your own counters.

One could use a counter with twelve pony beads. 12 blocks is supposed to equal a mile, so if one moves a bead upward to 12, they'd have a mile walking in. I can't always walk outside so this works indoors for me.

Glad you liked this idea of mine.
