Am I crazy or am I hearing sounds here at the board whenever the ad on that page is for Scan cafe?
I just thought I'd check in case it shouldn't be happening.
Thanks

Hmm, the ads are served based on location and browsing history. So I can't really see the same exact ad as you are seeing.

But according to Google's ad policies, there shouldn't be any sounds unless you interact with the ad by clicking on it or hovering over it or doing something else.

You don't have to hover--If your mouse goes anywhere on that ad even for a split second, the sounds start. I spend a lot of time trying to avoid getting near it!

Interesting, is that a flash-based ad?
Do you know the domain name?

I just did it and it was an e-harmony ad on the "Unread Topics" page. You only see the tops of peoples heads and it says "mouse over for sound". It's under the back button so you almost always inadvertently mouse over. It stops once you click on a topic but as soon as you hit the back button to click another message, you mouse over it again and the ad starts again--very annoying! I'm not interested in harmonizing with anyone--I just want to quilt :P

I don't know what a flash-based ad is but I clicked on the ad just now and here's the link to the website (odd, they don't use the sound effect on there...lol)

Ok, so there are two ads with sound? One for e-harmony and the other one for scancafe?

Are they persistent on some specific pages?

In other words, do you always see the same ad when clicking, say, Unread Topics?

Nope, doesn't appear to be specific pages. No sound effects today--just ads which are fine as long as they don't talk to me. :)

I've only heard sounds from Scan Cafe ads. But I haven't heard anything since yesterday morning when I first posted.
It didn't seem to be confined to specific pages. Just wherever the ad popped up.
