We have just become grandparents to two beautiful little children, with another little one to join soon. Our son and daughter-in-law have just adopted these adorable children after many years of a very stressful and painful process of trying to have them naturally, without any success.
The adoption route was also very stressful, but our prayers were answered and now we are truly blessed with a complete family.
These little ones (all under three years of age) have brought such joy to our lives, we love them so much, they have bonded very quickly with their new mammy and daddy, and their two sets of grandparents, we couldn't imagine being without them now, looking forward to the little baby girl (8 months) coming home to us very soon.
We thank God every day for his beautiful gifts, he is truly good.

How wonderful for you and your family. Great news.

Ramona Byrd 11-05-2010 09:48 AM

Congratulations, Grandma. You certainly have been blessed.

Now get busy and make these lucky children their own quilts.
If they're old enough to pick colors, that's nice. Or you could
show them some colors and ask them to pick one they like.
Put their (new) names on each quilt, and keep telling them
how lucky YOU are to have such lovely grandchildren.

I've heard horror stories of grandparents who refuse to admit
such adopted kids are "real" ones. Sad, they don't know or even
care that they are missing the love of an innocent child.

Congratulations. Children do bless our lives.

I would like to say thank you for all your lovely replies
it is so nice to have your kind words, we are just so overwhelmed with our new grandchildren, we want the world to know about them, at times we feared it would never happen and now we have three, how wonderful is that!!
Thank the Lord for his loving kindness.

Congratulations God is great and filled your family's needs threefold. They will bring much joy. My sister is 16 years younger then I am. She was adopted at 2 days old. I know I would never be closer if she were my natural sister. I love her dearly.

JJs 11-05-2010 11:51 AM

we have 7 grandchildren - two of which came by way of adoption.... I'd be hard pressed to pick one I love any less than any of the others!!

If you can love any other person - husband, wife, daughter or son in law, etc, you can certainly love an adopted child

Our son and wife adopted a little girl from Guatemala. When they brought her home, she was 9 months old. What fun we have wirh her! When she looks at me and says "I love you Grams" I melt. They would like to adopt another child from Guatemala but the government there has closed adoptions. Our little one was cared for by a foster mother and had the best of care since an agency was invovled. She has her own drawer besides Gram's sewing machine with things she 'found' - small scissors, thimbles, ruler. She pulls the pins out for me when I am sewing things together. One day she said to me, 'Grams, let's go in your sewing room!" aw shucks. . . .

Congratulation! We all know it takes more than birthing to make a Mom. I'm happy for you all.

EdieClay 11-06-2010 05:58 PM

How wonderful! Thanks to God for His grace and prayers to the birth mom or moms who were brave enough to give these precious children the gift of a good home with loving parents AND grandparents.

Charlee 11-06-2010 06:00 PM

There's nothing quite like being a Grandma, is there? Congrats and ENJOY!! :)

maryb119 11-06-2010 07:21 PM

Grandkids are a gift from God no matter how we get them. Two of mine are the dredded word "step". We don't use that word. The only steps in our home are the ones comming in the front door. Love is all that matters. Congratulations!

Gramof6 11-06-2010 07:31 PM

A huge CONGRATULATIONS from us. Your life will never be the same & I mean that in a wonderful way. Our DS & DDIL adopted 2 little boys at birth 5 & 8 years ago and those boys are the light of my life. It was a long drawn out process, but we had faith and a lot of prayer that it would all work out. And it did. And we could not love these little guys any more than we do.

wanna be quilter 11-07-2010 02:42 AM

It is so heartwarming to receive all your lovely messages, I totally agreee with everyone, children are truly a gift from God to be treasured for life, no matter which way they arrive, they are sent by Him.
Our little ones are all sibblings, their birth mother was unable to take care of them properly, the authorities stepped in and put them in care to be adopted. We pray for her that her mental health will improve, she will get news of how her babies are doing once a year by letter. When they are grown up they may wish to contact her, and that will be ok too, they are entitled to know who their birth mother and father is if they want.
We had a lovely afternoon with them yesterday, they certainly keep us fit and are a great pick me up.
