Adult bib
2 Attachment(s)
GailG from Louisiana ask about the bibs so she could make some. Here is pictures and measurements.
Bottom finished width is 151/2 " , 15 inches width just below the u shape for the neck, 91/2 inches in length from bottom of u to top. 16 inches in length from bottom of u to bottom of bib. I make them reversiable and use about 1/2 inch seam. You can make double thick pocket for each side, however I stopped doing that for cost and time. I hope this helps. Suzanne PS: I forgot to say I close top with about 1 and 1/2 inch of velcro and get a color to match. |
I made 1 for my hubby to use when he eats in the living room...he never uses it but refuses to let me give it to my son (who wants it). Guess I'll have to make another 1 for my son for Christmas!

love it,i could use one for my dh, especially when he eats his corn muffins at midnight on the couch. he thinks I don't know, his crumbs tell the truth.
love your kitty fabric |
I think I could use one. I always spill things on my shirt when I eat.
|
Great instructions. I also make them but longer so it lays in the lap & catches spills in the lap.
|
I wear mine while driving.

Very pretty and useful.
Sometimes I could use one when eating out. I went through a spell about 30 - 35 years ago when I would wear bit of stuff I ate out. Not messy at home. I doubt My Husband or kids would eat out with me if I wore a bib. |
Love the color of your bibs. I have made them also for friends parents and family members mines are a little longer with a pocket across to catch the falling food. What do you line yours with?

Thank you, Suzanne!! I can think of all the possibilities. Your directions are very clear. In this area, we have seafood boils (crabs, shrimp, and crawfish). We usually supply lots of paper towels to keep our "fronts" clean. Sewfine has a good idea using the long pocket across the bottom. And of course, I will need two for the car. We like to go to our favorite drive-in for chili dogs -- very messy.:)

Simplicity has a pattern for this ..... and these patterns are on sale at Hobby Lobby for $.99 through Sat., Oct. 12.
I made a couple of these for bingo games at local nursing home ... . they were well received. |
I am making a doz to donate. Gail I know what you mean about the chili dogs! haha
|
I make a similar version for the VA...... but they require them to be WHITE terry cloth.... *sigh* i' not a white / plain person...altho I do like vanilla icecream!.... I try to happy them up with binding... I tried slipping in appliqué.. they preferred them plain.... drats

My mother is in a nursing home. They do not have bibs, they have "adult clothing protectors".
|
The care home by us uses terry cloth ones but they are pink or blue or green.
|
Thank you so much I have been looking for a pattern for one for my mom!
|
I make them for our local nursing home. I use dollar store dish towels and just put a binding on a half circle cut from one end They are simple, fun to make and very much appreciated
|
The nursing home where my father resided was very careful to call them 'clothing protectors' - I suspect to protect the dignity of the residents who wore a 'bib'.
|
mary mo...no hobby lobby here in Or. I will be heading to AZ soon and there is a H L in Lake Havasu.YES!! I will miss the sale BOO Hoo
|
I make bibs out of towels. I put straps that go around the neck and fasten with velcro or permanently attached. (Goes over the head)
|
Sewfine, I use two pieces of fabric and they are reversible.
|
that's pretty cute Bib! I would rather use a bib than ruin my pretty blouse, sweater, jacket, dress, quilted vest etc..... you know what I mean my quilting Friends! thanks for sharing!

When I opened the car door to shake off the crumbs, I noticed the lady in the next car was brushing off her bosom. I showed her my bib and she said, "Hey, I need one like that." |
