All QB members OK?

some tornadoes went thru central Illinois. I hope all is well. Family and friends are all fine!

QuiltingVagabond 11-17-2013 03:53 PM

We had a tornado warning here in south central Indiana, but only got rain thankfully!

DogHouseMom 11-17-2013 05:05 PM

We watched the tornado that hit Coal City from our front stoop. Waiting to hear from another QB'er who lives in that city.

J Miller 11-17-2013 06:20 PM

It was extremely windy here today, but we didn't see any tornadoes. Still here.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather. Hot and sultry here in SE Texas.

irishrose 11-17-2013 06:47 PM

Watches and warnings all the way to the Mackinaw Bridge, but we only had huge amounts of rain - add in flood warnings - with 50 mph winds expected after midnight. This is November????

It looks like Illinois took the brunt of it. Especially Washington, IL.

Skyangel 11-17-2013 06:58 PM

We just talked to my hubby's cousin who lives in Peakin, IL. She had damage around her neighborhood but they are OK, Thankfully.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 11-17-2013 07:11 PM

An hour south of Springfield, we've got no damage. Wind and rain was it. There was big hail a bit north of us and Pekin and Washington look bad in pictures coming up on the WICS News Facebook page.

Teacup 11-17-2013 07:33 PM

I'm in Lincoln, IL, 40 minutes north of Springfield. We had tornado warnings and high winds, some branches down but the worst went just north of us. My son in Peoria had part of the flashing torn from his house and maybe some roof damage. The quilt shop in Washington, Peddlars Way, sent an email to its subscriber list that the shop was OK but without power and it would be closed for at least 1 day, or maybe longer. This a really cute shop, near the downtown square that has some other fun shops. I'm hoping those businesses were spared.

pelikanbus62 11-18-2013 02:45 AM

Morning from Michigan, we were under tornado watches but nothing except heavy rain and high winds. Hope everyone else is okay.

Sandygirl 11-18-2013 03:17 AM

A friend of mines' daughter lives in Washington, IL. Her house blew away! That area was hit the hardest! We lost some metal roofing that was already peeling off of an old corn bin ....i saw it flying toward me way as I was frantically trying to get my car into the detached garage and the huge sliding door on our pole barn is now on the ground. It was fine as I was pulling in....then all hell broke loose! I was never so scared in my life. I swear I saw the witch on the bicycle fly by! The wind (tornado-light?) was incredible! I held onto my steering wheel so tight as I raced to get home from church. Heart beating! Never want to go thru that again! Living in the prairie is always an adventure!

Watching the news on the damage this morning. Hope all our members are safe!

miriam 11-18-2013 04:16 AM

We are still here - high winds, heavy rains, some flooding in the yard and breeze way plus it's roof leaked a little. Everything is ok now though - now to fix the roof.

wilburness 11-18-2013 05:13 AM

Bless you all!

oleganny 11-18-2013 05:36 AM

here in Indiana spent some time in the basement & lost power for a couple of hours but no damage to house & no trees in the yard came down, but think some trees back in the woods fell. Maybe will take a tractor ride later & see - hope not the trees with the deer stands in them - lol. We count ourselves blessed, as others have lost everything.

margee 11-18-2013 05:43 AM

I live in Morris- the sirens went off 2 times. Was at my sisters house and saw shingles, big pieces of roofing paper in the wind going over us. Went to basement at nephews house. Got home and all ok.

mighty 11-18-2013 07:33 AM

I hope everyone is safe!

nativetexan 11-18-2013 07:33 AM

that was horrible. I hope everyone is safe!! (why do they call it Midwest States by the way?) my geography lessons say otherwise. it's confusing.

Jingle 11-18-2013 12:42 PM

We live on a high hill. I haven't heard of a tornado in this area. We had high winds, a little rain. No damage. A few miles away there was damage. I don't think any one hurt or killed, just downed trees and damaged houses.
Illinois and all flat lands are in danger any time there are storms.
Midwest is in the middle of the United States. My only explanation and what I've always heard. I don't know who came up with that term or when.

miriam 11-18-2013 01:35 PM

We didn't lose any trees but my DH is helping to get some cleared away. Lots of big trees went down around here.

cindi 11-18-2013 04:09 PM

Had crazy high winds in SW MI last night but thankfully no trees came down at our house, although I did see many trees with big brances down on my way to work. We've been without power since 5 pm yesterday, and they're saying it could be 2-3 days before power is back on. Thank goodness for whole-house generators. The best investment we ever made in this house! Prayers go out to all those in tornado areas. That was terrifying.

Because it's mid-way to the "west".

Prayers to all those who were affected by the severe weather.

My DD was traveling back to FT Wayne IN - we were getting reports from friends in Indy that the storms were getting bad - we were lucky that she was close to our friends house in Perrysburg OH where she stayed and rode out the storm - two tornadoes within a mile of their house! We were blessed that they were home so she was able to seek shelter!

gale 11-18-2013 09:18 PM

tornadoes touched down within 10 or so miles from us. We only got super high winds that took down our hay tent and ripped a door off of one of our buildings. Power was out but only for a few hours. We were very lucky.

Quilter Day-by-Day 11-18-2013 09:25 PM

We had the high winds and rain here and lost electricity last night at 11:30 and may not have it back on till late night wed. but we do have a generator going at night. There was some surrounding areas hit a lot harder. I just hope and pray everybody is okay.

wanda lou 11-19-2013 01:22 AM

Hello everyone here in Ohio we had high winds and tornado warnings, no major damage here some downed tree limbs but we did lose internet. Now up and running again... YAY!

Country1 11-19-2013 08:11 AM

We had alot of rain and winds here, but thankfully nothing more. Praying for those who had it bad.

Paula Fullager 11-19-2013 09:42 AM

Not sure if anyone posted this heartwarming story about the tornado in Washington, IL.

So glad You and yours are all safe. My prayers are with everyone affected by that weather.

Dollyo 11-20-2013 06:33 AM

Here in mid Michigan, had lots of heavy rain and high winds. DH driving home couldn't see the front end of the car. 500,000 without power (me included). Power off for 2 days. It came back on last night. YEAH!!!! Temps in the 40s. Lots of trees down, 3 on the road just down from our house. Several on our property. Some won't have power back on until Sat, late.
We were lucky. It was just inconvenient, not serious. Not like Washington, IL.

Sewhappygal 11-23-2013 03:14 PM

The tornado hit here in Lafayette, Indiana. No one was killed or hurt which was amazing. It hit and severely damaged several business and two of our school. Because the tornado came through on a Sunday no one was in the buildings. The kids that go to those schools will be back in school on Monday at different locations. They are saying it will be a year or more before the kids will be back in those buildings.

Some of our area was without power through Wednesday but overall things were ok. We were very blessed compared to others.

gale 11-23-2013 03:40 PM

I don't know if it was in Lafayette but I read about a community that opened the school even though there was still no power. People were not happy. It was pretty cold after the storms went through.
