Alternative to Yahoo Group?

My Guild is not that crazy about out Yahoo Group for communicating. Facebook is not an option either. Anyone have other ideas to use for Quilt Guild business, communication, posting files, pictures, etc and also require membership approval.

Thanks
sandy

Your group could start their own blog.

My 3 sisters and I have a blog, created by the most computer savvy of us and it is great, private, you must be a member, and completely private for the 4 of us. Built in guides to creating one on google I believe. We are spread out around the country, so it is a great way for us to stay in touch.

I don't know how to do it but Google Groups is an option for email and Google also has some options for shared files, etc.

Possibly consider Tumblr. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/set-group-tumblr-blog/

Hmmmm...everyone would have to open a Tumblr account. That won't fly. Great idea tho.
thanks
