I just finished this, the second of my adventures with fondant and marzipan. The wedding took place on the beach and was very informal, no family, just the minister and two witnesses.
I thought it would be nice for her to have a "cake topper" to save, like the rest of us did "back in the day". The "theme song" they chose was a newer version of Somewhere over the rainbow and the favorite thing is butterflies so I tried to combine these with my limited skills! The cake inside is a "Black Magic Cake" (allrecipes.com)with Mocha Cream Cheese frosting...it traveled by car from Texas to Biloxi with no "incidents" so I am pretty happy with all that! Plus, they loved it...which is all that counts. |
How cute is that?????
Awww...seems to be slipping off my tongue a lot lately, but so many wondrous pics ppl are posting and I love this! I bet they were tickled! One thing, you said the wedding 'was'...why is the date the 24th? Or did you do this so they could have it for their first anniversary...ok, I'm slow, lol. I got it  great idea! so thoughtful! |
lovely job :-D

Yes, the original date was the 24th of last year. This is their first anniversary. Their birthdays are the 9th and 13th of january, so I sent the cake with her brother for a combined gift, with the top to save for future anniversaries.
Thanks for all the compliments! They were very happy with it! |
