Morgan had another wonderful day.....she was showing me just how smart she is...she got upset and cried twice..I showed her an old school picture, and she remembered her friend, but she couldn't speak...and the second time she cried, was because she wanted to speak to grandma, and couldn't talk...but she did make the phone sign with her fingers, which I didn't even know she knew lol
DH shaved his head, because she is upset about hers, and he walked into the room...and she pointed to her head, then to his,...she knew immediatly he shaved...and this morning, she took a makeup brush, and dipped it in make up and put it on his face...( we call him papa bear )
she also SMILED!!! It was the most amazing thing in the world to see...one side is paralized, and the other side feels numb from swelling, but she didn't let that hold her back!...we learned more hand signs..and she remembers older things, she is able to point out who is who in pictures...and we even discussed buying a new dress for her..and she was able to stop me to indicate what color she wanted, then showed me her nails ( which we painted ) to tell me she wanted the dress the same color....my dear friend and neighbor who has been helping me and is the one who is setting up the donation fund for us and morgan..came down today, and she remembered her immediatly....the OT and PT both said they feel muscle movement on the left side..so there is a great chance she will regain use of her arm and leg.
Since she is now able to show the difference between pain, itchy, and funny feeling she is helping the nurses treat her symptoms. and I know I said this, but she smiled!! I feel guilty for not being able to go back till tomorow night, because it has done her a world of good me being there working with her all weekend..but i guess that is just the way it has to be....I came home today with smiles on my face for the first time in weeks! :)

amma 06-28-2009 04:18 PM

That is wonderful news!!! Her prognosis sounds sooo much better!!! What a great weekend the two of you have had :D Your DH is sooo awesome to have shaved his head 8) 8) 8) that is just way to cool.

Esqmommy 06-28-2009 04:28 PM

I'm dancing around the family room - soooooo happy to see Morgan is making such wonderful progress and that, for what feels like the first time, you sound like a bit a weight is lifted from your shoulders. She sounds like a fighter...good thing for those strong, tenacious girls!! Keep the faith - I know I am. Sending you lots of good thoughts...esqmommy

sewsewquilter 06-28-2009 04:30 PM

:) :) :) :) YEA!!!!! So glad that she's more aware and she smiled. That's terrific. The muscle movement in her lift side is fantastic. We'll continue praying that she regains full use of EVERYTHING. Thanks for keeping us all informed. WE care and want to know!!!

Jamie 06-28-2009 04:42 PM

It's been amzing watching her "wake up" and prove to all of us just what she is made of! She is shocking us all....well not me..because I knew she had it in her :) But I am just thrill to actualy see what i've beleived this whole time! It's just amazing....Thank you...all of you, It feels great to know that there are people who care...In my heart of hearts, i beleive she will be talking and walking again in No time..and she will be better than she was before ( apparently she has had chronic infection..menigitis maybe in her brain for atleast a month now ) and all this time I thought her attitude change was mental...I just know in time, she will be back to her old self again.

Lisa T 06-28-2009 04:55 PM

Oh, this is so wonderful to hear!! I remember you saying the doctors were giving a very dire prognosis as to what she would recover. Well, she is showing them! Way to go, Morgan! And way to go, Jamie! I am sure she is picking up on your positive attitude and faith, and that is part of why she does so much better when you are there.

I am so happy for you!

Chele 06-28-2009 04:57 PM

Such great news! Big relief! I knew she could do it too! Stay positive, mama. Your little one has much to show you! Give her a high five for me!

Shemjo 06-28-2009 05:00 PM

That is such good news! Morgan is a real tooper! I have tears of happiness for you all. Prayers are very powerful medicine! Loads of love going out to you and your family!

Ducky 06-28-2009 05:04 PM

Okay, Dear Heart, I have tears blurring my vision and it's hard to see what I'm typing. I am so touched and happy things are looking up. You know, it's so hard when they have ordinary little illnesses, but when being faced with something like this, it has to be so monumental. Have her brothers and sisters seen her? (What are her other siblings, anyway? And how old are they?) As a mother to another mother, I'm so relieved and happy for you to be able to see the progress. And as we've said before, we're here for you!

sandpat 06-28-2009 05:05 PM

Jamie, I'm sooo happy for the progress! I know that each small step is a true blessing and like a huge mountain that Morgan is climbing...one small step at a time. Yes, I'm sure she does really well with her Mama there with her..don't we all??? Prayers going out for continued progress

Deara 06-28-2009 05:09 PM

Praise The Lord.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful news.
Hubby and I have been praying for her.
Scriptures say, 'We are healed by HIS stripes and she is.'
Her healing is manifesting daily.
God gets the Glory.
Deara & DH

Jamie 06-28-2009 05:30 PM

she has a 10 yr old brother Sabastian...and a 4 yr old sister Lizzy, and a 1 yr old brother Joshua...and two step brothers 16 and 12, everyone but the 16 yr old and 12 yr old have been in a number of times, giving her there love..and positive energy. her step brothers are afraid to see her like this...and that I understand...

gaigai 06-28-2009 05:38 PM

Jamie, I am so glad to hear that Morgan is better. Prayers do work, and kids are amazingly resilient! She'll be back home soon, I just know it.

chewboo 06-28-2009 05:48 PM

i was glad to see the up date then juast amazed at the progress my prayers are with you and the family

BlueChicken 06-28-2009 05:56 PM

That's fantastic news! Fingers crossed it keeps up!

My seven year old asks after Morgan regularly, and said yesterday "mummy, you should make her a quilt to make her feel better".

Isn't it a shame they have to grow out of that unflappable belief that mummy can fix everything. :-)

Mousie 06-28-2009 06:09 PM

Jamie, this is great news. I am devouring every bit of progress.
I think your being there with her, is definitely helping her, and her progress is definitely helping you. We're all looking forward to sharing more good news with you...or rather, you to us

Blue, that's a sweet thing, that your little one believes in the power of a quilt! how sweet is that?
Yes, it is hard trying to live up to, the way they see us, but we just keep trying to do the best we can. :D

beachlady 06-28-2009 06:13 PM

Jaime, I am so glad that Morgan is progressing. I knew she would! Seeing your smiling face reassures her all will be ok. Same with her smiling at you. Hey since your DH shaved his head, don't you think you should too????? LOL
Prayers still coming your way.

blahel 06-28-2009 06:28 PM

that truly is great news..i was just wondering this morning how she was going so it was a lovely surprise to hear that she is doing so well.

zyxquilts 06-28-2009 06:39 PM

Oh what a wonderful weekend you have had!
Sending more healing & positive energies to Morgan & to you too :D
(((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))
for the whole family!

JoanneS 06-28-2009 06:42 PM

Wonderful, wonderful news. I'm so happy for you and Morgan and for your whole family. I check for news of Morgan every day, and today I was gone all day, and just got to the thread with this best of all possible thumbs in the eye to whichever doctor told you in the beginning that she wouldn't do this well. I know they don't like to give false hopes, but I wish more of them believed in encouragement, because IT WORKS! WE'RE ALL ENCOURAGING YOU AND IT'S WORKING!

Jamie 06-28-2009 06:45 PM

Actualy the making her a quilt thing is funny...because I have yet to make the kids quilts...she has 2 blankets at the hospital that are hers..and I have the quilt there that I had made for myself( its freazing in those rooms)...and the nurse gave her my quilt today, instead of hers...and I said Hey what are you doing..and she shruged, I said that is My quilt...and she got the greatest grin on her face! she just knew that was mommys and she was special enough to be able to use it, then she started patting it and smiling all out... even the nurse laughed at her :) I want to make her one...but I am so busy and restless at home I really have to force myself to sit and do it..

Jamie 06-28-2009 06:49 PM

Actualy I asked her If she wanted me to shave my head too...since she is upset about her hair, and she nodded yes..then played with my hair....my friend and neighbor whom I have refered to with helping us out so much, owns a full service salon..or saloon as shes named it..and i told her she was gonna go and get her hair done there and that made her happy.

azam 06-28-2009 07:02 PM

Fantastic news! The power of prayer is amazing, what an awesome God we have!!! We continue to lift her up in prayer and I know that the Lord is listening to all of us. Thank you for the updates.

Piedmont Quilter 06-29-2009 04:31 AM

Oh Jammie!!!! It is so wonderful to read of the improvement that Morgan is making :!: :!: :!: Prayers continue to go up for your family during this time. Also glad that the Dr.s were able to pin down the cause to the meningitis (sp) infection. I understand your steps not wanting to see here like this. Give them time - they are old enough to understand what is going on and have to deal with it in their own way. It's so hard to be at that age between child and adult.

Jamie 06-29-2009 09:29 AM

They were not and are still not able to pin down the cause...so that means they still dont know if it will happen again....but so far for todays update...the nuro docs walked in, removed her shunt ( or the drain that goes into her brain ) and stiched her up and left!!! This is amazing news...and it also means they will be able to move her into rehab now :) until they do so which could be as soon as tomorow...i doubt it though..they will get her into a chair and sitting up, and they will be able to work harder and further with her progress. there has been talk for days about making it perminent..so it was a complete shock when they called to tell me it was removed :) my baby girl is one step closing to coming home now. I should add...that she still cant move her neck or head, or mouth or her left side..so progress is still slow moving

mytwopals 06-29-2009 09:34 AM

Such wondeful news about Morgan. I'm so glad she's doing so much better. Sounds like just a bit of rehab at the hospital and she'll be back home, where the real healing will take place. :)

pittsburgpam 06-29-2009 09:37 AM

I am so happy to hear this! Going to make me cry at work.

My 9 year old granddaughter asked what I was doing when I was looking at Morgan's threads so I told her and showed her Morgan's pictures. She asked if she could make her a card. Of course she can!

Jamie 06-29-2009 09:53 AM

yes definatly cards are great! I want to stop and get her some flowers today when we head down to see her. we've put up pictures, a poster of hanna montana, and all sorts of things. she will be in rehab for a month or more...but since yesterday marked her 2nd week in icu and we were told to expect atleast a month and a half, this is great.

Jim's Gem 06-29-2009 11:38 AM

YES!!!! Great to hear that there are consistant improvements!!!

Jamie 06-29-2009 03:40 PM

Today she wasn't feeling so well..she kept crying in pain towards the end of our visit...but before that I got a whole lot of smiles...and she was doing some mouth movement which is great.

Ninnie 06-29-2009 03:55 PM

that is grat news! Still keeping her in my prayers!

kpc 06-29-2009 05:23 PM
