Another jaw-dropping tv program

I must keep that tv off! The other evening channel surfing, looking for something to break the silence of the house, I came across this - Naked and Afraid........omg, is all I can say.......I thought Survivor was
nuts....this one takes the cake...two complete strangers- male/female meet on a road in some uninhabited place in their birthday suits, no provisions...must survive for 21 days and trek to some predetermined place for pickup at that time....BUT...there is also a "small" crew with them filming this saga! What next!

ManiacQuilter2 06-15-2016 06:18 AM

I never turned that on because I thought the commercials for it were appalling.

redstilettos 06-15-2016 06:59 AM

This has been on for some time now, and I agree. Jaw dropping. It is amazing to watch and see who steps up to the plate and who becomes the dead weight. I know I couldn't do it. I've seen some episodes where they are just COVERED in bites. The itching alone would have driven me to ring out and go home. Wait....I'd have never gone in the first place. (*shivers*)

Doggramma 06-15-2016 07:16 AM

What a lot of crazy stuff on tv. I rarely watch anything other than the food network or hgtv or the news. Once I was flipping through and saw another one about a realtor working in a nudist colony. All I could think of is "icky" looking at the furniture in the houses.

nativetexan 06-15-2016 07:51 AM

yep , not even worth watching.

Maybe they put towels on all the cushions?

ptquilts 06-15-2016 08:46 AM

It is common etiquette in nudist colonies that you always have a towel with you to sit on. No, I am not one!!!

Naked and Afraid is one of the few shows I watch. Interesting to see how the personalities work together. The nakedness is not seen (except from behind) and is incidental, IMO. I agree, I could never do it. They had one episode where someone dropped out before they even started, just on the reputation of the location they were going to be in.

tessagin 06-15-2016 09:33 AM

That naked and afraid show would not work for me. I wash my hands too often and I'm not about to eat larvae and sleep with another man in the altogether. I saw one where the guy got bit in the posterior by ants. All I could do was laugh. DH walked in on that one and said; "Really, Theresa a guy digging his butt and you think that's entertaining?" No but I had only just flipped it because of channel surfing. He always walks in at jus the right moment!! LOL!!

cashs_mom 06-15-2016 10:01 AM

I remember why I just dvr what I like and don't watch much of anything else. In the evening, I"m usually on the computer and my husband has Ancient Aliens on.

M.Elizabeth 06-15-2016 03:44 PM

I spend too much time on the computer to watch things on TV that I consider worthless and/or vulgar.

gale 06-15-2016 04:06 PM

A facebook friend of mine was on that show. lol. DH and I watch it sometimes. I would rather they were dressed and afraid. Sometimes the blurring just isn't enough.

sewbizgirl 06-15-2016 04:11 PM

Television is SO STINKING BAD these days.

Did you see Brain Dead last nigh?

It was on but I was on my computer and didn't really watch it. Some of the parts I saw were a bit weird.

institches33 06-16-2016 05:56 AM

I figured if they had no food they should follow the cameraman because he isn't going to starve. I have a pretty good idea of what's coming next and it is already simulated on many of the regular tv shows.

I never thought I was a prude, but maybe so!

Onebyone 06-16-2016 06:24 AM

My DGD is 19 and she and her friends do not watch tv shows. Tv in her room is unplugged. She needed the outlet for something else. They watch Netflix movies if they watch anything and that is on their phone. Ad people need to support tv shows for the very young and the older generations or there will be no one watching at all.

I agree, what's next? Surviving the wilds in high heels and no make-up?........lol

grandmaemma 06-16-2016 07:52 AM

I never liked Survivor and I'm certainly not going to watch this...thanks for the warning!

NoraB 06-16-2016 08:33 AM

I agree......"dressed and afraid" would be just as good. I can't imagine how the nakedness adds anything to the show.....at least let them wear underwear!

Wouldn't work, who wants to see people running around in dirty chonies.

MarleneC 06-16-2016 06:39 PM

I don't think being naked adds anything to the show. There was a show on for a short time of realtors selling houses in nudist colonies. Too me too many gross bodies and the ones showing people exercising--bending over, etc was really gross.

MarleneC 06-16-2016 06:42 PM

There is a commercial where three women are in bikinis and each has a bush in front of their public area and they start trimming the bushes. It boggles my mind that women aren't up in arms over this and getting it removed.

Sew Freak 06-17-2016 04:42 AM

Don't like reality shows ever since back in the day with the bachelor shows ....no prude here....it's just stupid to me....beside I'd rather be quilting....even cleaning my toiltet bowl is a better use of time.

SandySews 06-17-2016 04:49 AM

I don't watch a lot of tv anymore. Seems everything is either full of vulgar language, sex, or just plain stupid stuff. I like some of the Food Network programs. Hubby watches the older westerns like Gunsmoke, Rifleman, and etc. If I had young children I'd probably not have it on much at all.

coopah 06-17-2016 04:54 AM

IMHO, the 'reality' shows are contrived and organized to get people to watch....that's all TV is about. Naked people and contrived situations aren't my thing, but if other people think it's great, they can have it. "American Pickers" and "Chasing Classic Cars" is as much reality as I need these days. :-)

silverfoxmag 06-17-2016 05:47 AM

I also DVR shows I like and thank goodness for Netflix, I choose what I watch and it's usually a "feel good" movie.

mjhaess 06-17-2016 05:58 AM

I never watch that garbage. They have some of the worse TV I have ever seen. No wonder children learn the things they do.

Onebyone 06-17-2016 10:35 AM

The shows on PBS and Nick, Disney for young kids are not what you think either. Watch a few and see why kids today seem so entitled. They start them young. The new Sesame Street is not like the classic my kids grew up with. My grands watch the old fashioned cartoon and shows. Woody Woodpecker, Mighty Mouse, Howdy Dooty, Bugs Bunny, Soupy Sales, Three Stooges, Superman, Popeye, Daffy Duck, etc.

JuneBillie 06-17-2016 04:13 PM

Most TV is trash to me and hubby. We enjoy the pet shows, a decent dramatic movie, a few old series shows, and shows like NOVA.

mike'sgirl 06-17-2016 05:29 PM

We dropped direct TV about 2 months ago and have not looked back. Not only are we richer for it ,but with Netflicks we watch what we want, when we want. We also got an antenna and rokus for the netflicks and other channels it provides.
That show is revolting. I watched it once. It seems like something a kid would come up with. Let's get naked and go streaking!! Nuts!!

ptquilts 06-18-2016 03:01 AM

I don't own a home and rent furnished condos, summer and winter. Both places come with cable included. I don't know what people pay for cable these days, but no way would I pay more than $5 a month for what I see on the TV. Many nights I just go to bed early and read.

Another thing I have stopped watching is shows about people being stupid. Like Catfish - how the heck do you "fall in love" with someone you have never met? Or the ones where someone is obese and complains they don't know what food choices to make. Give me a break.

I have been enjoying "Alone" on History channel, after binge watching the first season "on demand".

Oh, I agree completely. The first time I saw that ad I really almost choked.......it is about as suggestive as anything I've seen so far.....and how about the Victoria secret burlesque show.... And where are the women libbers.....exploration of women's undergarments!
