Peter Falk most famous as Lt. Columbo has passed. He was a fine actor. If you should ever get a chance to see him in the movie "The Great Race", do not pass it by. It is some of his best work.

Oh yes, he was great!! Rip Mr. Falk!

Will have to get that movie. He was so good.

JUST ONE MORE QUESTION

If you, in my town, murder do,
Be assured, I’m on to you.

I’ll park my carcass at your door,
Making queries by the score.

Every time you turn your head,
And think you’re free, I’m there instead.

I gather up the evidence,
At the scene or residence.

I’ll dig and scratch for every clue,
And drive you nuts before I’m through.

Though my appearance seems disheveled,
To your freedom, sights are leveled.

Rumpled raincoat, unlit cigar,
Tousled hair, crummy car.

Compared to you, I don’t impress,
But I have come to make arrests.

I solve each case that I’m assigned,
A record that can blow your mind.

There’s just one thing I’ve sadly noted.
I never seem to get promoted.

Signed, Lt. Columbo

Anne L. Fulton

Just read the web notice. Did not realize that he had dementia. RIP.

What a tremendous legacy of roles for us to admire and enjoy.

sueisallaboutquilts 06-24-2011 12:22 PM

Poor guy had Alzheimer's, which is different from dementia.
I was sad the other day to hear that Clarence Clemons died. He was the original and only sax player for the E Street Band and was with Bruce Springsteen for 40 years.
But we still have the music :)

He looked a lot like my husband. He will be missed.

Another great one gone....RIP Peter Falk. I had read in years past that he also had one fake eye. Can't for the life of me remember what had happened to his eye. He was so great as Lt. Columbo.

If I remember correctly, he had some sort of cancer at the tender age of 3.

Years ago when I was young, I worked in the L.A. area, and I was driving back to work from running an errand. I was on the Hollywood Freeway right where it gets to Studio City. My car was having trouble, so I coasted off the freeway ramp and onto Ventura Boulevard near a gas station. I was standing outside my car in the center divider when Peter Falk pulled up behind me and asked me if I was OK. I said yes, I am. He smiled, waved and pulled off. I'm sure he would have helped me if I said I needed it. I always enjoyed Columbo. His subtlety was a marvel!!

sueisallaboutquilts 06-24-2011 02:11 PM

Janice, that sounds like something he would do. He seemed like such a nice guy!

Painiacs 06-24-2011 02:36 PM

Loved him!! Bless his family!

Yankee 06-24-2011 04:32 PM

jljack,

That was a beautiful story. It is so nice to hear about the older stars and how they behaved. A lot of the younger ones coming out now, think that the world owes them everything.

Jingle 06-24-2011 04:56 PM

We agree, Peter Falk was a natural for the role of Columbo. At times it was hard to remember he was only acting. The true test for any actor or actress. Husband has a bunch of those shows on tapes and dvds.

SueDor 06-25-2011 04:41 AM

He was great!

pocoellie 06-25-2011 05:00 AM

He was one of a kind. I could watch Columbo all day and night and not get tired of it. I loved all his movies. Rest in Peace, Peter.
