went to an antique sale today, she was pretty in her box , no instruction manual or feet. she was, are you ready, $425!!! I thought about it twice and said what do i need another for and at price!!! so everyone who has one you can go tell your husband or wife that i saw it $425 and you got a deal on yours.

That is certainly out of my price range. They really are neat easy machines to take with you to group sewing meetings.

That seems to be the going price on craigslist these days.

dunster---are they really that much nowadays? I got mine 4 yrs ago for $240.

Featherweights have always commanded a high price in my area. The going rate around here is $350-$450.

That's a ridiculous price. The price seems to have really spiked a couple of years ago, but it's coming down now that all the collectors have bought a half dozen or so each. They sell slower or not at all in the $400+ range.

I paid $20 for one of mine, and $80 for another. If you watch, they are out there. Singer made millions of them and they do not wear out.

I was looking at craigs list tonight saw where there are several
for less tan $100 in the Denver area (or a little north).

I bought my 99K for around $175 last year!

Yes, you can find 'sleepers' where family members sell someone's belongings and don't know values or current trends. However, the going price is $350 and up. One in mint condition can command $500. I have one that belonged to my MIL (she hated it because she liked a machine with 'substance'). I have had people offer me $500 for it when I have taken it to class or retreat because it is in perfect condition, carrying case and all. Yes, there are quite a few around but condition varies. There used to be a guy in Anaheim, Calif. that bought them and painted them in all sorts or colors. They were beautiful but not original. They commanded big prices.

lindaschipper - I also got a 99k this winter when we went to Texas. I gave up on finding a featherweight at a decent price. I haven't used it much yet but am going to sew a scrappy in the near future. Someone had stolen the foot off it so I got it for $125. Had it serviced and cleaned for $35 (plus a foot for it) so am ready to go.
