Antique Transforming Desk...this is amazing!

Antique Transforming Desk

If you are mechanically inclined, this will fascinate you! This is such a lovely piece of craftsmanship. And to think the guy that made this over two hundred years ago did it with hand tools alone....

KwiltyKahy 03-11-2013 06:30 PM

Amazing. Wonder how long it took him to make that.

nivosum 03-11-2013 07:41 PM

That is amazing. Does anyone today have the patience to plan and make one today?

mountain deb 03-11-2013 10:45 PM

Forget patience, is there a plans or directions to make another.

Amazing!!! The person (or persons) who made this had talent beyond compare!!

Boggles my mind to think of someone being that clever. Must have taken ages to complete, and what a work of art!! Thanks for sharing.

Imagine how much fabric and/or tools we could hide! (and probably never find again - lol) Thanks for sharing

leaha 03-13-2013 07:15 AM

oh thank you Ditter, my dad would have loved seeing that! He was really into antiques and any moving gagets, thanks so much for sharing!

Roberta 03-13-2013 07:15 AM

Just one word WOW!

Not only is the whole mechanism system and hidden drawers complex amazing, the piece itself is beautiful! Sometimes we get so smug thinking that we're so advanced and smart, we need to remember that there have always been talented and brilliant humans.

BellaBoo 03-13-2013 08:21 AM

I would never find a thing again in that. It's beautiful!

IBQUILTIN 03-13-2013 08:47 AM

I can hardly believe the craftsmanship that went into that. My Dad is a woodcarver and has done some inlay, so I know the detail that is involved (somewhat) Really a great video. Thanx Ditter

Makes you wonder what other items were created - this is beautiful. Thanks Ditter for sharing.

I had to watch this twice , it is so amazing. If I had this I could play with it all day long. In fact maybe I can just watch it all afternoon.:D

quiltstringz 03-13-2013 09:33 AM

Thanks for sharing that was amazing

Stitchit123 03-13-2013 09:47 AM

That is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. Every time they opened a new secret compartment all I could think was WOW I have 1 drawer in my desk and can never find anything.
