Since I've been into quilting, I've noticed I have put on a few pounds. I'm doing a lot of sitting and sliding in my chair from my sewing machine to my ironing board, which is not very much exercise.
So I started attending Zumba Classes and I love it. What a work out. I have never had so much sweat pouring out of me exercising before. It is so much fun. My daughters and my sister and some church friends all are attending these classes with me. And it is trimming down my waistline. I finally have a curve going on again in my waist. Was wondering if any of you are into Zumba? |
Yes! My company's health plan includes some free exercise classes. I'm not that good at it, but it's fun. Have you ever seen Elaine on "Seinfeld" do her little dance? That's what I feel like! When I first started, I was hoping no one would call 911 thinking I was having seizures! LOL
|
I know, I felt the same way and still do because I have attended 3 so far. I work out here at home too so I am getting better and better, but still got a long way to go. It is just so fun and I already see a difference. I haven't got on the scales yet though.

You might notice more of a loss of inches than pounds. At least, that is the case with me. My weight has stayed the same the last couple of months, but my waist is smaller.
|
You probably are right too. I just wanted to lose about 10 lbs. because the age I am now, I am getting flabby, especially under my arms and the top of my legs. lol! and not to mention my belly wanting to poke out now. I am hoping my stomach will tighten back up and firm up the other stuff. Anyway, I'm having fun doing it! :)

I tried it but it hurt my back- it did'nt make me feel slim and gorgeous, it made me feel old and decrepit!
|
The worst part is feeling like someone is watching you make a lot of mistakes which is to be expected. I just laugh at myself and keep trying because I know practice makes perfect.
They tell us not to do the moves that hurts your back or knee, etc. Just to keep moving doing something, so you can get your workout. I don't have time to watch anyone else because I have to keep my eye on the teacher. |
i was doing it but had to quit because of health reasons. i loved it. so much fun. who cares if they're looking, i'm having fun. :) hope to start back soon now that health is back under control.

I'm waiting for an ankle injury to heal to try it. However after trying jazzersize I bought the zumba cd for use at home. I have no coordination at all. When I say that people say you'll be fine so I decided to join jazzersize. Figured I'd pre-pay the 6 weeks no refund that way I'd kinda have to go since I already paid. After the second class the instructor said she didn't think it was my thing and gave me a refund. I think I'll be a zumba at home kinda person. Glad to know in advance it's fun.

By the way when exercising at home and trying to learn new things close your blinds. Last month I bought an xbox and the exercise program. The lady next door was hanging clothes while I was trying the tennis. Since the Xbox has no controller she didn't know what I was doing. Next thing I knew she knocked on front door and told my daughter she should probably check on me I looked in trouble. My DD and SIL are still laughing.

Hope your ankle heals fast and well! |
Which DVD did you buy? I am looking to buy some but not sure which one to get. I am a beginner, but I have been doing it by watching youtube. Would the exhilerate ones be ok for me?

My daughter got certified as a Zumba instructor this past April, so I've been attending her classes...lots of fun and lots of sweat. I'm down 15 lbs. : )

**To buy DVDs for at home, go to www.zumba.com. They come as a set, and have free gifts too. :)

Boy, am I out of touch! I thought a Zumba was one of those little round robot vacuum cleaners that moves by itself.

I LOVE Zumba! I go twice a week (don't go the 3rd time on Sat morning because that is the one day I can sleep in). A teacher at my school is the Zumba instructor and she was both my DDs hs cheer coach several years ago. I was worried because I have 2 left feet and I can tell you, that first evening I thought I was going to DIE!!! That was last Nov. While I have not lost a great deal of weight (I still eat the wrong things too often), I can tell that my clothes are fitting me so much better! Both my DDs love it, also!

love Zumba
