i havent felt like sewing p or scrapbooking in weeks no, i m just tired, tired and then tired.
Is it just me? |
I get like that. If I get a spare minute I will read a book or do something different, like taking a walk. Eventually it passes and sometimes I even get a renewed passion for my quilting! Just take care of you!
|
No, I have times like that,I have had some joint issues and surgery and sometimes it is hard to get motivated again. I am not in a slump right now (even though I had knee surgery 2 weeks ago)
|
Let me tell you how often I feel that way. I love to quilt. However I didn't quilt a lick from November until the end of January. I didn't make that first Christmas gift or start or finish anything. I read lots of books and slept way too much. Then I went to a retreat and was revitalized. I've been doing pretty well since; but I never know when I have a burned out period coming. Hang in there, it will pass.
|
Me too! SOmetimes when I get home from work, I just want to sit and sew, but then I have to work in the garden, take down laundry, cook supper, do dishes....thelist goes on and OOOOOONNNNNNN! No wonder we are tired, lol!
|
No it's not just you. From time to time we all need time out. Take a rest from sewing and get yourself well. Reading the posts here should help you and join in when you are able. Thinking of you. Hugs on the way.

|
no it is not just you, I retired at the end of March and thought I would have all the time in the world in spend in my corner of the quilting world and being doing all kinds of fun stuff. Not even between helping my husband in the yard, getting the house in order and getting ready of summer (opening pool and such) there has not been a lot of time, but I am thankful every day to be able to do as much or a little as I want to. My quit room is our bonus room which is on top of our garage and it gets really hot up there so I try to go up in the morning before it gets too hot, I figure summer is for making tops and winter is for quilting them. Hang in there it does get better.

I actually have the energy but I just don't have the time to make anything for myself.
|
Nope, it's not just you! I just went through a several month stretch where I didn't TOUCH anything craftsy. We all get those times. Just do something else that relaxes you, and before you know it, you'll be bit by the "bug" again!
mountain-moma- Congratulations to your son! Also to you, for gaining a daughter-in-law! Just wait for things to settle down a bit, and maybe plan to make them a quilt for their first anniversary. Don't stress yourself out! *hugs* :D |
Thanks HeatherQuilt (:)

thing is that i have all the time in the world, i m not working, i am home due to disabilties(got amongst things fibromyalgi, M.E, wiplash, P,S.O ++++++) so i know i m tired and got little energy due to that too but i normally make atleast one card a day but its been weeks without now.
i m thinking of getting a new sewing machine later, thinking prices are better in UK compared to Norway. |
You are not alone, sweetie!! But sorry to hear of your health issues :( (((((((((((( BIG HUGS)))))))))))
|
no energy? we all get like that..don't feel creative. i go in spurts..i may sew for 4 or 5 days, and not go near it for a week. it is just the way it is for me.
or there is somthing going on with you..stressed,depressed,maybe a medical condition. you should know your own body. you may just need a short break. or a nap! lol! whatever is going on, we're with you! |
Sometimes my body demands I rest and makes it happen. I am hyperthyroid so I go on high speed all the time. If I have some stress added in I just go faster and I eat and rest less. Sooooooo, when my body says 'enough!' I might have 3 pajama days in a row. Nap, eat, nap, eat. Then bingo! When my body is rested I pop awake and start the cycle all over again.
Do you feel your body is asking you to rest so you can heal from something? My best wishes to you. Regards, Dorothy |
I think most of us go through this from one degree to another... it will pass, your body will let you know when it is ready for you to go back to crafting :D:D:D

I have felt that way too, lately.
I was working on a quilt, posting the progress here to keep me going. I got all of the blocks done, or so I thought. I needed to make more to enlarge the pattern.....no problem. I only have a part-time job, which is only about 10 hours a week. I need something more, but I keep plugging along. No more overtime, either. I got a call last Sunday about, believe it or not, a paper route. Went down there on Wednesday at 9:30 to fill out the paper work and get the info and instructions I needed. The guy tells me that he found out about an hour before I got there that the girl decided to keep it. It bugged me that he didn't even try to call me to tell me so that I wouldn't have to drive there, he had enough time. So, I've been doing a lot of sleeping and can't seem to get the energy to do anything but lay around the house in my pj's. Hopefully, this will pass soon. |
If this just last for a few days, it's not too bad. But if you are wanting to sleep and not do anything else, and it goes on for too long, please see a doctor about anti-depressants.

It makes me feel so much better reading this post. I have multiple chronic health disorders so I work slowly.
It makes me feel guilty. Why? i do not know. Maybe bc ppl ask me what I've been sewing bc they don't realize that some ppl just can't sew all the time. I am an empty nester but my hubby is disabled now, so underfoot sometimes, which hinders my creativity sometimes, plus he is spoiled!  I am on a project now, and going at it steady, but to someone healthy they would think, is that all you got done? What can i say? it's not perfect, but it's satisfactory to me, and I can be a little fussy with my own stuff sometimes. Sunnyhope, I should take my own advice and let's give ourselves a break, ok? I'll try if you will ;-) |
We all get burnt out sometimes. Don't worry you'll be crafting soon.
|
We all go through it, take care and just take one day at a time
|
When I have times like that which is pretty often lately, I take a break. Sometimes I sew something other that a quilt, like a chair cover for my sewing chair. And now I make pillowcase dresses and bloomers for my granddaughter. I, also, love cooking (making fresh bread is my favorite). And then, sometimes, I lay on the couch all day with my 70 pound boxer right next to me. That always seems to help. Hang in there this will pass soon and you will back to doing what you love.

Well you are not alone...but I find that if I make myself do something liek crafting it will eventually capture me and the creative juices will liven me bck up again!
|
I haven't had this problem yet, I worked for the last 23 yr.s and got very little time off and did housework, laundry etc. on weekends.
I retired June 2nd and trying to get a normal for me, doing pretty good so far, I watch Highway to Heaven (love those 2 guys) reruns for a couple of hours before I get started about 10:00AM on anything else. I still get up early to stay somewhat on track. I hope you get back to the fun things soon. |
Hang in there. I'm sure it will get better. We all have times like that. Sometimes I just don't want to sew so I read and eventually something perks my interest again and off I go.
