I want to purchase a wholesale lot of buttons on Ebay for bags and such and I want to be able to cover them with the fabrics that match the bags I make...does anyone know how to do this without purchasing kits...I just want to cover regular two or four holed buttons...thanks!!

I haven't actually done this, but couldn't you cover them with a circle, and treat it like a yoyo?

Have never covered buttons with holes but do remember covering round buttons with a shank many years ago. Guess you could cover ordinary flat ones. As Tussymussy said use a circle of material and treat like a yoyo.

I dont know why u couldnt " decopodge" the front of the button and just give it several coats of varnish?
Good luck.. Can't wait to see a new repurposed button!! |
Use heavy thread to make a thick shank, pad the surface of the button with a dot of batting, felt or interfacing and then do the yo-yo bit as previous reply recommended.
