Anyone own a Silhouette Cameo?
I've asked my hubby for one as my booboo gift - had surgery on Friday and had another one on 2/22 (lol got a booboo present for that one - a light box - no where near the cost of the Cameo device).
I thought about getting a cricut2 but when I started researching it, I found many people recommended the Silhouette Cameo as it has more versatility to it. I want it for my quilting/sewing projects. Would love any input, thanks, Lee |
I had never heard of it, so looked it up on Amazon. Not sure why you would want one of these instead of an Accuquilt Go! Is it because you want to do creative applique projects?
Edit: Just wanted to add this link to Amazon reviews of the Cameo. http://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-Cam...ws/B005Y1CPSU/ |
I have an accucuilt go and love it but the dies are expensive. I have quite a collection of standard quilting shapes: strip sets, tumblers, hexagons, triangles, squares, etc. I still plan on getting traditional quilting dies for my go.
if I want let's say a duck for Easter, it is too expensive to buy the die and you only get 1 - 3 small designs on the die. But for $.99 with the silhouette I can get pick from thousands of ducks or if i have a duck I like it has a feature that will trace and cut it - it's called print and cut, for free. |
I watched the video, but still have a question...do you have to back the fabric with a stabilizer? Or will it cut plain cotton?
Can it cut anything you can print, or do you have to buy designs somewhere? Seems to me they could have put a little more effort into a video than what I saw! It doesn't even demonstrate the actual cutting process..just before and after! |
