Aprons were a success!

I madly sewn for days to get full aprons finished for
the bird expo this past weekend. I went to the expo
with 8 full aprons (KNOWING that 7 were already sold).

A local bird foundation was the one that bought 6 aprons.
Saturday they decided that they wanted 6 more aprons.
Then on Sunday afternoon come "settle" up time for vendors
the president of the foundation came to pay me, while she was
doing that she told me to add yet ANOTHER 6 to the order.
That is a total of 18 aprons for the foundation.

Another vendor purchased one apron than came back to
order another.

That is a total of 20 aprons sold this weekend.

Since I used up ALL my premium cotton muslin (I used for lining)
had to go buy more muslin, and more base fabric for the aprons.

Soon as I get the shipment of bird fabric in (had to order more)
I will begin making the 13 aprons needed.

A local friend also makes aprons for little girls. She has quite a business making matching mommy and daughter aprons. Congrats on your success!

That is fantastic! Must make you feel good to have such a big order!

Wonderful! It's always nice to hear a success story.

Happy to hear your aprons were a success. What style of apron pattern did you use? Would have been great to see a picture as I'm a visual person!!

I will post pictures of the 3 aprons I have photos of
when I get home from work today.

No fancy pattern just created a template using copier
paper and traced the basic outline on the fold for the
full apron and for the half just cut rectangles in the size
I wanted.

Per all your requests here are the aprons I made.

They are just simple aprons nothing fancy, smaller pocket
up top with a narrow slot for a pen or whatever, a larger pocket
on bottom with 2 narrow slots at the middle.

I line my fabric with premium cotton muslin so that they are
more stable and will hold up better.

For the neck strap I used my kam snaps and made it so that
they can be adjusted.

First picture is of the half apron.

The thing that amazed me the most was how it was snowing on Sunday
and still in the afternoon it got busy at the bird expo.

I wear a quilting apron for my longarm business. It stays on me most of the time. I can go braless and I love it. It also came in handy when my jean zipper broke yesterday LOL. Do they still have those apron patterns that cover up some of the shoulder/sleeve area? I think I want to make one of those for when I'm doing dishes and already dressed to go out the door.

QUILTNMO 05-15-2014 04:41 AM

My husband's grandmother was buried with her apron on. I never saw her without one.

If I am thinking right those were called cobbler aprons.......must be a pattern somewhere.
