I know that article is false....BUT, Aspertame DOES cause illnesses. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia many years ago. Finally discovered that Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) caused those symptoms. When, after a year of eliminating that and all its aliases from my diet, I decided to quit drinking Pepsi. I reverted to a diet tea mix that has Aspertame. I got sick all over again. Seems people that are sensitive to MSG are also sensitive to Aspertame. nope....I won't eat it.

I have friends that get sick when they consume Aspartame/Nutrasweet.

I have total confidence in these people's statements.

Snopes says it is false, I do know if I have things with aspertame in them I get a migraine.

I have from time to time read articles in science magazines about concerns over aspartame and its effects on the nervous system.

I wouldn't use it myself. But OTOH, scientific magazines also report problems with eating too much broccoli or carrots. And everything under the sun seems to cause cancer nowadays.

MSG gives me migraines.

Most Chinese restaurants no longer use MSG.

However, meat tenderizer is just that - MSG. It's also in some steak sauces.

I wouldn't say most Chinese Rest. don't use MSG. I've dealt with MSG sensitivity for almost 20 yrs. I've discovered they'll use Soy Sauce that says "no preservatives, no additives". yes, that makes everyone think that they don't use MSG. HOWEVER, the bottle will say something like "hydrolyzed protein of corn", or milk, or vegetable. THOSE products can have up to 40% MSG. The law states they have to list what products are in the food....NOT what products are in the products used in the food. Example....Spaghetti sauce will say it has "tomato sauce" in it. BUT, do they use the tomato sauce that has broth and tomatoes or the one that is made up of water and tomatoes? The broth will have MSG. A very informative website on this is www.truthinlabeling.com. LINK. And since I went to it to get info on the website link, I discovered the Swine Flu shot has MSG in it!!!!!!!!!!!
