I lost about 35 lbs but apparently it was too much. I was down to 105 and everyone asked if I was sick. I kept it off for a while but I was almost starving all the time so I figured that wasn't my 'ideal'. Now I'm a little overweight again (about 126-128) but I don't starve myself and I'm still 12-14 lbs less than my highest weight.

If it matters, I'm 46.

I am so glad that this thread was started,WHY you ask ,because I needed to hear or should say read some of the stories on here about your successes. I had back surgery and total hysterectomy when I was younger so have been in menopause for a few years now.Exercise is something I try but then end up paying for in the way I feel, I would love to find a indoor pool to use year round near me but in the sticks that is almost unheard of ,any help you all can give me is greatly appreciated

Hi. I've kept SOME of it off for 7 years. :) I lost 68, and have kept 38 off despite having some health problems. The reason I thought I would reply to your question is the exercise part of it. I have hip problems that make walking difficult, but over seven years ago I started doing an exercise program called Oxycise. They have some special DVDs for folks with disabilities called The Easy Does It Series. I don't have a way to watch DVDs, so I just do the Oxycise breathing with the floor positions that are in Level 1, but I include several other positions so that I get thirty reps done, which is one workout. I do mine on my bed, on a heating pad, and that helps my hips quite a bit. If you're interested, the website is www.oxycise.com. They have a special on until the 14th, buy one get one free, if you go to the message board and click on the title toward the top about newsletters. I am not an employee of this company. I'm just a satisfied customer. I used the Change One Plan from Reader's Digest, but now I'm trying to follow the Change Your Genetic Destiny (GenoType) Diet by Dr. Peter D'Adamo. I feel better eating this way, but haven't been losing weight. DS has lost 67 pounds in just a few months doing GenoType though. I hope you can find something that will help you feel better.

I still eat like I was in my 40's but less active and the wrong foods.....metabolism slows down, but my taste buds don't.

A good diet is one that you can stick with. That's the key to keeping anything off long term, so it's best to stay away from anything that causes you mental anguish. It will never work long term. Go slow and steady.

Congrats to all who have found success. It's not easy, I lost weight about 10 years ago and have gained it all back and an extra 20 pounds. Need to get at it but am having trouble with the getting going and sticking to it.
