I MUST quilt today! (well, actually, I am making cat stuffed animals from my late fathers plaid shirts for a memorial gift)
If I keep coming back here today, would you PLEASE tell me to go away already??    |

That's it! You are grounded, missy! No computer until you are done quilting or your fingers can't take it anymore! I mean it, and...oh, don't you give me that look! you're gonna get it!
(does that help? :P) |

Reward yourself. Make two cats. Set timer for 30 min. Go to computer. Times goes off....off you go!
We used the timer method to make it easier to get the kids ready for bed when they were little. Worked like a charm. They got mad at the time and not us!! |
I can't- I'm too much of an enabler hee hee
But PLEASE post the cats when you get a minute!! |

But PLEASE post the cats when you get a minute!! I am taking three plaid shirts, disassembling them, sewing the three colors together, and then randomly ironing on the shapes. After I cut out the last body, I need to re-sew the remaining scraps so I can cut heads, legs and tails and repeat. I most certainly will post the entire litter when they are done~ |

Ok, reporting back.
My bobbin ran out of thread. I have to take on of the cats to the vet. I have almost all the pieces sewn except the tails. I even have polyfil in the house for when I get back! |
Just an update. Today I had to work. But before I went to bed last night, every piece of every cat was cut, sewn and turned right side out. About half were stuffed.
Tonight after dinner I will stuff and stitch closed the rest, then I have to attach all the parts to the bodies, embroider faces and such. I am so glad I got so far yesterday! I will post pix when I am done! |
Good for you! Please post pics when you can. I love to see your work!

Ok, I FINALLY have photos and can post them!
Here is the litter of cats that I made out of three plaid shirts that belonged to my dad. I removed all the buttons, opened all the seams, and then stitched the fabrics back together randomly. I used sheer fusible interfacing that I had cut into the pattern pieces, ironed them on, cut them out, and then resewed the remaining fabrics and continued on. After cutting for all 6 cats, I still had enough fabrics left to make 4 inch stockings to hang as Christmas ornaments. A few of the cats have pockets from the shirts on their backs and photos of Dad have been placed there. They were very well received at the memorial we had last weekend. ETA...I also used shrinky dink plastic to make collar tags, that I put his photo on with a little quote... |
The cats are really cute.
What a novel memorial. I like it. |
All right, Young Lady, don't roll your eyes at me. Now go to your room and sit down at that darn sewing machine and don't get up till you run out of thread. DO YOU HEAR ME???
NOW...GO |
Such a lovely idea and so creative. I love the cats.
