I always Google stuff like that. Found these things to try:
http://askville.amazon.com/cancel-pr...estId=89176440 http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?_...TxDFWW38WE00PA If these links don't post correctly, just Google "How to turn off predictive text on kindle" Edit: Scanning the links, I think the second one is actually easier. Hold down the space bar for a few seconds to go into Keyboard settings, then turn off "auto correction" and "next word prediction". |

I don't mind it at all. just go to the word that fits. Automatically enters the word, if it's the one you want. Often better than some believing you can't spell and use grammar correctly.

You may have to go into your amazon account and do it from there, or you could use the 'help' on your kindle which actually contacts a real person - I've found that very helpful in the past.

Try turning your Kindle off completely.

Well, I truly appreciate all of your responses and have tried them all...still have same problem. Either by going through "more" as suggested or "settings" as others have, the phrase "auto correction" was already turned "off" in both but, the phrase "auto prediction" appears nowhere, even in advanced settings but, again, thanks for your responses...very sweet.

Found some more websites. There are probably some variations in settings depending on what year your device was made. If you found "quick fixes", turning that off may do the trick.

Wonnie, I have the same issues with auto correct. Sometimes my kids text back and ask WHAT are you trying to say. LOL. I am getting better at reading what I text before I hit send. Haven't heard from you for awhile and wondered if you were still on the board. grammasharon

I wish I could help you because I know how annoying it is! Sometimes I would scream when my cell phone completely changed what I had typed because it knew better. I hunted through all the menus and could not figure out how to turn it off. Finally went into an AT&T store and had one of the salespeople turn it off for me. Now I can send texts and search for things on the internet on my phone without the phone changing everything.
I think technology is great, but I wish it would quit thinking it is smarter than us. |
