anyone sell or use Avon?? I have awful dry cracked skin from this heat into AC into the heat into pool, etc My skin is going bonkers! Some say avon works well? any advice?

CarrieAnne 06-23-2010 12:51 PM

I used to sell it til I moved into the Boonies, lol! I do like alot of their products, and they (used to be) affordable, but I havent looked at a book in a LLOOONNNGGG while, lol! My skin is horribly dry too, esp. my hands, and the lotions worked for me. You might also try some of the handcremes by Kari, Vasiline, and I think its called St. Ives...that actually worked the best for me!

sewcrazygirl 06-23-2010 12:55 PM

its my face that is dry not my hands.. :(

CarrieAnne 06-23-2010 01:08 PM

Oh, gotcha! Oil of Olay works great for me, but that is a bit expensive too. Never used Avons face lotions....

sueisallaboutquilts 06-23-2010 02:56 PM

I love the Look Ma, New Hands from Bath & Body Works. Right now they are having a buy2get2 free sale.

Boston1954 06-23-2010 03:11 PM

My sister sells it. PM Oklahoma Suzie.

SuziC 06-23-2010 03:48 PM

I agree!!!!!

sewcrafty 06-23-2010 03:57 PM

This may sound very strange, but my Aunt used to swear by it. Vaseline. I use Oil of Olay. Google natural face moisturizers and home remedies will come up for masks and such. I just can't remember where I've put my info.

earlylace 06-23-2010 05:16 PM

I have used Olay for 20+ years, I use it 1-2x a day, after my shower and before bed. My facial skin is very nice for my age! Lace

I don't sell, but I know people who do... their lotions are pretty good though... I like their face lotion...

They are actually one of the few "scented" lotions that I can use. (NOT ALL ARE SCENTED!)

Another that is good is Vaseline Aloe Fresh (Hydrating) Lotion. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for about 2.50 (10 fl oz). I have EXTREMELY dry feet, and I use this on them and it works wonders!

nativetexan 06-23-2010 05:56 PM

you can buy online too.

sew_southern 06-23-2010 06:11 PM

I use Avon & love it, my mom always used it as well. My DD's & I buy it all the time, it's the only brand we use for make-up, shower gels, body sprays & facial products. I have found most of the prices cheaper than stores and each book has different sales. You can go to Avon.com to find a rep. or order online.

azdesertrat 06-23-2010 06:26 PM

i sold it for 20 years, and they do have really good products, but like everyone else here has said, go online to Avon.com

Dix 06-23-2010 06:28 PM

Avon Skin so Soft is wonderful. There are Avon stores now. We have one close to us!

sewcrazygirl 06-23-2010 07:03 PM

I used to sell Avon and my daughter is going to start soon. Go to www.avon.com and midway through the screen you will see a link for "find an erepresentative near you". You should be able to find someone close to you.

I did that. thank you. None of them are replying :(

Alu_Rathbone 06-23-2010 07:30 PM

I want to sell it... but I'm afraid that what ever I make will get spent on... well... Avon! lol

sewcrazygirl 06-23-2010 07:32 PM

How much is the discount?

It is very hard to make money with Avon. I was President's Club which means you have to sell over $10,000 in a year. I sold $15,000 two years in a row. And I made almost nothing :( I had two teenage daughters at the time and so a lot of my profits went to buying them avon. But also they have it figured that you have pay a lot for your supplies. The brochures alone are horribly expensive. Then there are the bags, samples, shipping, demos, it goes on and on. I'm trying to talk my daughter out of selling it again. She tried it once and I had to bail her out financially because of it.

The discounts are deceiving. The first few campaigns you get 50% but after that it depends on how much your order is. And if you order under $50 you don't get any discount.

The people that make money in it are the ones that started long ago and are in leadership. They say it isn't but it is a pyramid type business.

Having said all this... I LOVED selling Avon. I got to meet so many people, I love their products and everytime an order came in it was like Christmas. I got to spend other people's money but I got to at least touch the stuff when it came in and I had to bag it! LOL satisfied my compulsive shopping urge! :-D

sewcrazygirl 06-23-2010 07:43 PM

good to know. i will stick to buying :) thank you

Alu_Rathbone 06-23-2010 07:44 PM

IF people prove that it is a pyramid type business, they can get into a ton of trouble... considering that pyramid businesses are technically illegal.

ForestHobbit 06-23-2010 07:58 PM

Avon does work well. I have a friend who sells it. Have you used Aveeno? It is wonderful also and you can get it at your local stores.

you should be able to find a rep in your area, there is a tool online that asks for your zip code and then it gives you a list of reps on your area and also thier websites if they have one in which to order from or thier phone numbers to call

mzsooz 06-24-2010 06:51 AM

I had a thought. There should be a 1-800 number for Avon in the phone book. Maybe you can track down a rep that way. When you go through the internet you only have access to the Avon reps that pay the $8 per campaign to be an erepresentative. I bet the 1-800 number has listings for the non-online reps too. Many of the old established reps don't do the online stuff. Worth a try!

littlehud 06-24-2010 07:49 AM

We had some people at work that sold Avon, but they have moved on so now I don't have a rep either.

sewcrazygirl 06-24-2010 02:19 PM

Well I gave up on waiting for my local rep too call me back, I bought some Philosophy skin care.
