baby burp cloths
 

We are expecting our second grandchild and are sooo excited. I want to make some burp cloths but don't want to just embellish diapers. I want to make them from scratch but have read many opinions as to what fabric to use. Have any of you made them and if so, what kind of fabric did you use?

flannel you could put cotton batting in them if you whanted.

Ive used 3layers of plain old flannel...
Ive used towels from clearance....
Ive used diapers...
Ive used cotton with 2 layers of flannel...

I use 2 layers of flannel with light batting inbetween or 3 layers of flannel I once did one with flannel on front and fleece on back but didnt like as well I thought it wouldnt be absorbent enough

2 layers of flannelette .... nice & soft & very absorbent!

I have made several. If you have an embroidery machine, you could make them like mine. I used cloth diapers.

I make burp cloths from 2 layers of flannel serged together around the edge and then embroider something on them. I make them to match the 2-sided flannel receiving blankets I make. :)

Don't forget the terry cloth material items you could be making....a hooded bath towel, bath mitt, bibs, changing pads. Personalize as you want.

Love your burp cloths and I want to make some... Did you put anything on the back to cover the stitches?

I downloaded these instructions from Patti Henry earlier this month. These are the easiest absorbent soft flannel cloths I have ever made. In fact, I made twenty three :-) ---- gifts for family and friends. I always preshrink the flannel.
