Baby Lock Sergers

Question for you all.

I was at the Baby Lock store today looking for a serger. I want a simple, easy to use, easy to learn serger. The Lauren was on sale for $299 but looked complicated to use. I have never owned a serger before. I asked to see an easier to use model. The rep showed me the Enlighten ($3,499). Is that the newest model?? I have been researching and I found Eclipse (couldn't find a price), Imagine ($1,999), and Evolution ($2,899). What does the Enlighten have over and above the Imagine and Evolution?? Thought I would ask you all first. I know I will probably go back to the store and ask them the same questions too. Just wonderin!??

Click on the link to compare all the sergers Babylock offers. I only know that my EZ Lock serger from Sewing With Nancy (Nancy Ziemen) works fantastic (similar to the Lauren and not complicated), except I sure would like the air threading system featured in the higher end Babylocks. Sergers aren't complicated at all, takes practice just like anything else. Babylock has step by step directions on their site and serger tutorials are all over the internet. I wouldn't leave the shop without demonstrations, instructions, and free classes with purchase.

I have the Imagine. Great machine I love it.

The Eclipse will thread itself, but it has tensions. The Imagine threads itself and has no tensions. The Enlighten is much the same as the Imagine but it has dual lighting (better lighting) push button threading (you can put both the upper looper thread in it's port and the lower looper thread in it's port, push the button and both loopers are threaded.) The Imagine you do one at a time and you push a lever. The Enlighten will also do the wave stitch. The Evolution will do all that the Enlighten does and it is also a cover hem machine. This is kinda the Readers Digest version. You can't go wrong with any one of these models, they are the very best. If you want an easy to use machine, get any one of these. Skip the Lauren, you very likely would be frustrated. The Imagine is called the no frustration machine for a reason. If you want to take a little trip....go to Salt Lake City. The prices are better there. Best of Luck.

Love my Imagine...the "air fed" threading system for the loopers is great....Easy to use and have had dozens of projects through my serger. I don't know how it ever sewed without one.
