We have an English Shepherd dog and she will scratch on the door when she wants to come in for a little while. Last night she scratched on the door and I opened it up and there she stood with a baby bunny in her mouth. She layed it on the porch and stepped back . I went out and picked the bunny up and brought it in the house. She had not hurt it. I think she brought it to us to take care of. It is still alive and doing well.

Yep, that bunny is yours. She must know that you'll take care of it, just like you do her. Nature at it's best.

How big is the baby?
I used to breed show quality Lionhead rabbits, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is next to impossible to hand feed a baby rabbit. They don't take to a bottle well and it is hard to find an appropriate formula. The best thing to do would be to see if there is a local breeder in your area that has a nursing doe, and see if she will accept and foster the baby. Otherwise, I'm afraid the little one will not make it. |
