Bag lining closure

How do you sew closed the inside of a bag lining? I hate to hand sew and I am wondering if anyone else uses a machine to stitch closed the lining once you have pulled the right side of the bag through.
Any useful tips and techniques would be appreciated.

I hand sew the opening in the lining because I enjoy hand sewing. If you watch the Jenny Doan YouTube video, "Make Three Totes/Bags with One Charm Pack", you will see that she sews the lining opening on her sewing machine. Best wishes with machine sewing your lining. I know your bag will be beautiful

I never hand sew them! Usually the opening is at the bottom anyway. I just fold the edges in 1/4" and sew about 1/8" from the edge. I start my closure seam about 1/4" from the start of the opening and extend it the same past the end of the opening.

some times by hand sometimes by machine, you could also use a narrow strip of wonder under to fuse the hole closed if it's small enough.

This works for me! Who's going to see it anyway?

I machine sew. It never poses a problem either and it is more durable than anything I would hand sew, for sure, as I put a lot of 'stuff' in my bags.

I just fold the raw edges under and zigzag stitch it closed......I dont like hand work at all :p and no one is gonna see the inside of the bag or comment on it

I often use the overlocker to finish. Especially if it is not a 'fancy' bag, no one looks inside.

I never hand stitch mine shut, I turn the edges under and do a very close topstitch across the opening. It's in the bottom and no one will see it, but it doesn't actually look bad if they do.

wonder under works fine.

This is the way I do it also. Once you put items in the bag, they will cover the bottom anyway, so no one will ever see the seam.

I always hand sew the lining closed, but I keep telling myself next time, I will sew it on machine. I once knew someone who made bags who always sewed the lining opening closed by machine, and it looked fine, and was probably a stronger closing.

I don't sew mine. I press the seam so it looks neat and then I make a sleeve for the insert that goes in the bottom. If I ever have to do a repair, I just take the bottom out and I go back into the purse without having to rip. I am very bad to pull the snaps through the fabric. I am adding some reinforcements now wich should keep them from coming through the fabric.
