There is a wonderful on-line drama unfolding in Decorah, Iowa. A beautiful pair of Bald Eagles are about to hatch their first egg of the season. This is a successful pair who have raised chicks (I think "eaglettes" is probably the more correct term) the past two seasons. They have 3 eggs, and according to my count, the first of the three should be hatching today. This is the link:

I hope you'll join the thousands of others with me and watch as this pair take on parenthood again this year!

You're welcome.. I'm fasinated by these birds. I've been watching them for several weeks now, they are so dedicated.
When they pan out farther you'll see they have a meal (squirrel) ready for that first hungry baby.

Judie, thanks so much for sharing this! I'm at school today and I have this in the background on my laptop. Should it hatch before classes end this afternoon, the children will be able to see it! How cool is that?

Thank you. This is the one that I have been watching (below) for a few hatchings. Glad to have another one to keep tabs on.

Thank you BeeNana.. I'll ckeck that one out too.. I think it is amazing we have these camera that stream us live shots 24/7.. Something we could never really see before.

Suzee, I'm glad the kids may get to see this event.. When the chicks get here there will be a lot of action in the nest.. the kids will love that!

I thought they had a squirrel there waiting, but looking at it again a while ago, now I think it's a rabbit laying there waiting for a hungry chick. Have you gotten to see it?

I agree. Then we have those horses grazing below. What a shot.

I haven't checked this year, but there is another site I would have to google again. It is Hornby cam in Canada I believe.

Could it possibly be the site listed above by Suzee? That site is in British Columbia.. Canada.. I suppose there are quite a few.. I've just gotten to know this pair and so I feel connected to them... They are just such beautiful birds. And BIG.. my oh my!

The area they are nesting in is right close to a fish hatchery. What an ideal location.. and it's on private property, so hopefully that will also help protect them.

Oops, sorry NanaBee.. I've messed up your name now and also gave credit to Suzee for your site listing.. I am sorry.. My mind is on babies I guess! I apologize for my inattention to the important details.. geeze. I'll try to watch what I'm doing!
