I am not a prejudiced person, but I received this in an E-Mail from a friend. Because we seem to be having more and more goods and foods from foreign countries our economy has gone to the bottom of the barrel.

This E-Mail explains it all and gives the Bar Codes for countries that import to the USA.

The whole world is afraid of China-made "Black-hearted goods".

Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China?

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690, 691 or 692, the product is
MADE IN CHINA.
471 is Made in Taiwan.

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never
educate the public; therefore, we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products
"Made in China", so they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the barcode. Remember, if the first 3 digits
are:

690-692 . . . then it is MADE IN CHINA
00 - 09 . . . USA or CANADA
30 - 37 . . . FRANCE
40 - 44 . . . GERMANY
471 . . . Taiwan
49 . . . JAPAN
50 . . . UK

BUY USA & CANADIAN MADE by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number.

We need every boost we can get for our economy, as well as possibly not
getting some things we dont want to get from foreigners!

Thanks for this infor. We need to shop for products not made in china and other counties that use child labor. Under paying workers, then over price products for us to buy.

I strongly doubt that we'll be getting much from Japan
for a long time.

And I recently noticed other bar codes, I'll try to run down their country of origin.

Actually this isn't exactly accurate. The code denotes the country where the code was assigned but not where the product was made. If a manufacturing company has it's headquarters in the US but makes it's products in China then the code will denote it as a US product regardless of where it was made.

this is correct! Many US companies have products made in China but the bar code is made for the US company because it is "based" in the US....

I just checked a handful of items here on my desk
staples sticky notes, #7- made in the US..correct
TUMS, code #8- made in PA by GlaxoKlien...correct
Curad gauze- code 8= made in CHINA...
Radio shack phone battery-8- MADE IN CHINA for RS
gold bond hand lotion #4- made in US(TN)

so you see, you have read the entire label...and codes system does not really work!

is that just one more way of fooling we ignorant American's (tongue in cheek)? It is no wonder out Country is in such bad shape. We can't even depend on the distributors to be truthful.

I just went to my cupboard and checked all my cooking and food products for the system you are speaking of. I didn
t find a single one with the O- bar code at the beginning that said just distributed by a company in the US. They had the distributor and made in the US on every one.

Just what products are you speaking of. I know toys are distributed by US companies, but bar code states made in China, etc.

Please send us some examples. Thanks!
