Barbie pattern needed
Does anyone know where I could purchase one for a robe and nightie for a Barbie doll? Pattern books are pretty limited on patterns for Barbie. Thanks.

There are some free Barbie patterns online. I found these:
http://www.sewingandpattern.com/proj...ies-nightgown/ http://www.sewingandpattern.com/proj...bies-peignoir/ You could probably make a nightgown by modifying this tutorial: http://www.craftinessisnotoptional.c...-tutorial.html And here are some tips on designing your own: http://web.archive.org/web/201004250...g.php#Patterns One thing about Barbie dolls -- they have changed over the years. A vintage pattern may not fit one of the newer Barbie dolls. In fact, the latest incarnation has Barbie coming in a variety of different heights and body styles. Your best bet may be to buy the exact Barbie doll that is in need of clothes so that you are sure everything fits. Edit: Here's a link to a photo of the new Barbie doll bodies: http://fashionista.com/2016/01/barbie-tall-curvy-petite (The tall, petite and curvy are the new body types. The 4th is the "original".) |
I use to make Barbie, Ken and G.I. Joe clothes when my kids were young. Mostly made up my own patterns from store bought clothes.

Take a look at Simpliciity 4702 Barbie pattern. Seems to me you could make the C or A dress as a nightgown in whatever length you wanted and use the B jacket into a robe, just make it longer and add a tie belt. I think the basics are there, and your fabric choices would make the alternative outfits just fine.

Google had a lot of Barbie patterns earlier in the Spring. Was going to make some clothes for granddaughters' dolls, but then she changed her mine and wanted something different. These were all easy-to-make and perfect for meeting a deadline on sewing.
Good luck! Mariah |
I still have my Barbie from 1958 - the brunette bubble hair one.
Many years ago I found a lady who made Barbie clothes and got her to make holiday/seasonal outfits for her. Now I can still play "dress-up" with her and she looks like part of my decorations. |
