What a terrific idea... I love the way it came out

Actually it is very easy. Just cut left over tee into 1x4" strips (lots of them). Get a hand towel and mark it in 1" segments all the way across the short width. Using a triple stitch for strength, just sew those 1x4 down the middle following the markings on the towel. They are scrunched up a bit (I'd say about 35 to 40 across the line). Then just do the same on the next line and so forth. It is easier to go from left to right so you always have just the towel part on the right. They are very soft to stand on and can simply be thrown into the washer and dryer as needed.

very good project for recycling Thank you!

Thanks for sharing! I have a couple of bags of tee shirt scraps left over and hate to throw them out. And I can make a small rug that will fit in our teeny camper bathroom.

matraina 06-08-2014 05:49 AM

Love it. Looks like it would be nice and soft to step onto. Good thinking, too.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the directions. Have scraps and backing ready for one and was debating how to go about this. Now I know.

Thank you for sharing the great picture and the direction. I recycle and upcycle everything, so I have a lot of t-shirt scraps. I've been hanging onto them knowing I would find something else to use them on. I will be making new bath mats for both bathrooms (will also have to send a couple to my DD).

It is a pretty project. I love the projects that look like you spend a weekend on them and as you said, only a few hours. I have a rummage sale coming up at church and will be looking for a bunch of t-shirts.

silverfoxmag 06-09-2014 08:56 AM

What a great idea, thank you. I just made some scarves using cut up T shirts, wish I had saved the leftovers.

Do they stay anchored to the floor well? I would love to do one for the shower in my bathroom, but have to be very careful of falls. I love it love it love it

They actually have enough weight and seem to lay down pretty good. I guess a lot of it would depend on the floor.
