I have just recently discovered these wonderful creations and have been fortunate in having a friend who was willing to show me how to make these Victorian Batting Dolls.
There is quite a history behind these dolls and they were used to decorate Christmas trees in Victorian times. They are made on a pipe cleaner armature and covered with scraps of left over cotton batting. the faces can be paper mache or a scrap face. Batting can be dyed as well. So far I have just made two but am anxious to make more in time for Christmas. Here are some Web links to Batting Dolls. I don't have any instructions for these dolls as they are quite simple to make. You start with a pipe cleaner armature and bind with cotton batting. Dress the doll and add accessories as you would like from pictures on the Web. http://wordsmith4hire.hubpages.com/h...s-You-Can-Make http://pinterest.com/pin/40250990391385668/ http://pinterest.com/JudeD/make-vintage-repro-holidays/ http://www.createanddecorate.com/pro...gornaments.pdf |

Thanks for the wordsmith link! I can see how they are done and I hope my batting scrap dolls turn out as sweet as your batting dolls did. Yours look better than hers!
