Yes, I think they know they are gorgeous and flaunt it! Of course it's all about getting a female interested, and I guess they are really confident of their chances. That bush is amazing too. What a super quilt that picture would make. There is a beautiful peacock panel available by one of the fabric companies - it makes a great quilt too.

If there's such a thing as the "Peacock Picture Hall of Fame" that deserves to be in it!!

Beauty of nature......I marvel at it daily, but this pic is definitely a clock-stopper!

Yes, he is a beauty but I have heard they are terrible screecher when living near them. I remember many complaints with neighbors in an exclusive estate located in Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern CA.

We live at the dead end of a LONG private driveway - out in the country - and when we first moved here we had peacocks - one male and several females. The male was very mean and would attack us so we wound up getting rid of them. They are inbred because there are so few of them. Yes, they make a horrible noise - sounds like "HELP" when they see a varmit in the area or a car pulled up in our driveway - a good watchdog though. We put a really big mirror (from a dresser) leaned up against our barn/outbuilding and the male would "strut" and show that other peacock how pretty he was. They only have their long tail feathers for about 6 months out of the year, then they shed them and it takes about 6 months for them to grow back. During this time (molt) they do not feel too good.

There are a lot of wild turkeys where I live. One Fall day I looked out the kitchen window, Huh? There was a peacock strutting with the toms! Poor guy must have had an identity crisis. He was pretty battered and only had 6 or 8 tail feathers left.

Wow isn't he a beauty - another one of God's masterpieces, and just look at that beautiful back ground what a way to show him off. He knew just where to pose for the photo lol.

I have a white peacock as my desktop background image.
Absolutely just LOVE white peacocks. I remember as a child
my parents had some friends who had about 8-10 peacocks
2 were solid while, and 1 only the tail feathers were white.

The photo below is of my desktop image.

Beautiful birds, especially the males like the one above. There are white ones also but rare. My aunt had one that was always finding a way to get out. Usually went to the neighbors and would look into the bedroom window of their daughter. She finally got used to him and would put feed out onto the small dormer ledge. Then that area of the bedroom started to smell. That was the end of the feedings. LOL!!
