Thank you, that was lovely. I was going to complain about my BF interupting me but he's a blessing, even if I have to grab the seam ripper.

I usually say, "Right now, or can it wait a minute til I get to a good stopping point?" If he says, "now" I go, because he is very independent and doesn't ask for help unless he needs it. After all, he cooks, cleans and lets me sew....and helps me whenever I need it. Then he also asks if it can wait a minute and if I say no, he comes right away, so turn about is fair play.

I enjoy helping my husband. He has taught me alot. I am careful not to learn so much that I could do it instead of him doing it.
I never mind helping him 'when he needs help'.
When I am busy and he says "Can you help me a minute?" I say "I am in the middle of XYZ. Do you really need me to help you or are you trying to make me feel helpful and needed?".
Then he says "I need another pair of hands" or "I just thought we would spend some time together".
That is the part where I have already lost my concentration, get up, make a pot of coffee, we have a cup then go do whatever he was doing when the 'Will you help me a minute' conversation started.
I really can't complain, he built us the sunroom I sew in and I have lots of space. :-P

Mine seldom interrupts. He just wants to watch. I usually help him and go back to sewing.

I put a chair and reading light in my sewing room for the BF and he reads while I sew - quiet comfort!

If my DH needs help with something, I stop and help. Someday I won't be able to, but for now, its all about Dad. he drops what he is doing for me a lot, so turnabout's fair play. Besides I love him a lot

Hubs asks for help and it's generally a short time. So it's ok,...most of the time.

Weigh - up the importance of the 'summons'. If it is consistently interrupting or attention - seeking, I either make a rule to be left alone for a number of hours unless there is a real 'emergency', or I get them involved in helping me with the project. Usually, it is just because they want to talk to you and we can do that whilst I work. Of course, I don't have a husband, but am talking of others who do this sort of thing at times. They generally get to enjoy sorting or cutting out etc and have a better appreciation of the process.

first of all mine wont bother me when he knows i am in my sewing room and second he usually doesnt ask for my help unless he really needs it , so when he does ask that means he has spent some time trying to do it on his own and is ready to resort to me helping

I say, "Ehh? Did you say something? Okay - hang on." It usually doesn't take long and I can get back to my quilting.

So I go help him quickly!

Me, too! My husband seldom asks for help, so I hop to it when he does.
