I love using fabric on greeting cards. Lately, I'm toying with the idea of using Mod-podge to affix fabric to a board or foam board to make a wall hanging. I'm also thinking about Mod-podging fabric to some plastic pots for my indoor plants.

Someone a while back posted a picture of fabrics put into embroidery hoops and hung on the wall . . . great idea! I need to start collecting wood hoops.

I have wrapped small gifts in scraps. Fabric flowers also make nice embellishments for larger wrapped gifts. I dislike the idea of commercial gift wrap--it's just paper that is meant to be torn up and thrown away! It boggles my mind the amount of money it can cost. So I always wrap gifts in plain brown paper or white tissue and decorate it with yarn, ribbons, fabric scraps, twine, orphan buttons, etc. My brown-paper Christmas packages with red, white, and green trims are always a hit. ;)

If you do embroidery, subtle prints can make really beautiful backgrounds for stitching. Bolder prints can stand on their own, with embroidered embellishment.

I actually 'wallpapered' with an awesome batik. The people who had the house before us had wallpapered right to the wallboard without any primer. When we stripped, we realized the only good way to get a nice wall would be to re-drywall. Out came the batik and it turned out awesome!

It was in a house we sold. I wish I had saved a pic. I used glaze to hold it on. It made the fabric look two-dimensional. The lady actually asked me if I wanted to come back and teach her how to decorate. That was a huge compliment for me! :) (Little did she know I owned a quilt shop and was just being cheap!)
