The City by Dean Koontz. He usually writes more science fiction type books, but this was different. Very engrossing story. I'm just starting The Girl on the Train. It's a mystery that another quilter recommended to me.

I just finished Scot Turow's Innocent. I know that it has been around for a while but it is well worth the read. Never expected the ending.

I am currently reading book 4 of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. My sister in law got me started with the first book and now I can't stop. I don't have Starz so I haven't seen the tv series yet but I'm really enjoying the books so far. I find it easier to read them on my Kindle since each book has very small print. I'm trying to read the latest Debbie Macomber book at the same time to give myself a break but find I keep going back to my Kindle. My husband's grandmother was from Scotland and my son is engaged to a sweet girl from Duine Ardfern Argyll (hope I got that right) and will moving to Scotland for three years. So I'm finding reading about Highlanders fascinating and, I must admit, this series has a bit of spicy romance to it as well.
I'm also an audio book person. I don't actually read much anymore as audios let me do two things at once. The Outlander books are also on audio and they are wonderful. I was able to get them from the library and I highly recommend them. Another audio series that I highly recommend are the Clan of the Cave Bear books. Wonderful narrator on those, as well. |
I just remembered the last audio books I was listening to. The author Dorothea Benton Frank writes stories about the low country. They are light but quite enjoyable. I think the first one I "read" was Isle of Palms and, so far, the one I enjoyed most.
Another author is Diane Mott Davidson. She writes a series about a caterer married to a detective. Very light, lots of fun to listen to. Lots of recipes at the end of the books but since I am listening instead of reading, I don't really take advantage of the recipes. Some sound pretty yummy, though. It isn't necessary to read them in order. |
I am catching up on Janet Evanovich's number series. Currently reading Takedown Twenty. Easy, fast read and funny. Got rid of Sirius radio and have been doing books on CD when driving. Currently listening to Whiskey Beach. After 35 years of teaching, it is " no brainier reading time" instead of all the assigned book studies with outdated research we were assigned!

I am an Audible subscriber and listen to books while I do other tasks. I feel like a lazy slob if I just sit and read, not sure why because I love reading. I will look into the others suggestions but one of my very favorite books was "A Prayer for Owen Meany", John Irving and everyone I suggested it to has loved it. I will listen to that one again and again.

I've read two good ones......"In the Name of Honor" by Nelson DeMille.....a trial regarding PTSD. very enlightening as well as good at keeping my interest....it is fiction.
The other one is by Laura Lippman......"And When She Was Good" Another fictional account of an abused, strong woman who became a Madam and then.......... |
