  You know I'm on dial up and can't see them!
I think you just do this to torture me

butterflywing 10-22-2009 10:39 AM

do you get youtube? type in the address. tell me if it works.

i never knew you couldn't do this on dial-up. i wonder why not. after all, internet is internet, right? wrong? (you know me. i'm 'puter impaired)

is it different if i email the link to you?

Ninnie 10-22-2009 11:06 AM

on dial up, we run too slow to see videos. My daughter sent me a 90 second commercial by e-mail and it took 1 and 1/2 hours for it to load.   of course I threatened her with a whippin if she ever did that again 8)

We are supposed to get DSL (high speed) sometime after the first of the year. Living out here in the boonies, we take what we can get

Chrys 10-22-2009 11:08 AM

Oh that is so funny! :) Thanks for sharing!

mochasue 10-22-2009 11:38 AM

OMG! That has got to be the funniest video I have ever seen. My cats have done some of those antics. I just wish I could have caught them on video.

amandasgramma 10-22-2009 12:15 PM

You're right -- it IS the best cat video. We have 2 tuxedo cats (black and white)....and they do a LOT of what some of those cats do....they're NUTS!

Deecee 10-22-2009 01:44 PM

I'm with you Ninnie, On my dial-up the video takes 10 minutes to load then plays for 2 seconds then freezes for 5 minutes. My patience runs out.

judee0624 10-22-2009 02:45 PM

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 10-22-2009 07:17 PM

looooooooooool!
those were great!
and that ultra 80s track playing just made it funnier

k3n 10-23-2009 12:24 AM

Ninnie, we have broadband but it's slowwww. Here's what I do - let it start playing, pause it then minimize it and go do something else. It'll buffer onto your computer then you should be able to go back and watch it without the stuttering; and if it's shrunk down out of your way, it doesn't matter how long it takes to buffer. :D

Now I'm going back to watch it - it's been buffering while I typed this. :D

k3n 10-23-2009 12:29 AM

Watched it - it was good! I love the one with the bear.

butterflywing 10-23-2009 09:23 AM

k3n - i'm glad you explained that, because if you think I understood what you said, you're
the thing that needs buffering

OK - and I thought I was techno challenged (Hans showed me!).

You put your screen thingy that moves when you wiggle the mouse over the play button and click. Then you put it over the pause thingy " looks like that - ish, and click again. Then at the top right of the screen, click on the box with the minus sign in it -. This will shrink the active screen down into a tiny box at the bottom of your computer screen. Then go check your messages or whatever you want to do. After a while, click on this tiny box and the screen will come back on. Click on the play button again and it should play without interruption. This works on You tube but not on Sharon Schamber, I know because I just tried.

Is it now slightly clearer than mud or shall I just go buffer myself now and be done with it?!

butterflywing 10-23-2009 09:50 AM

just tried it. i have mac and i don't have a box with a minus/plus sign. it may be an elective that i didn't choose. i can tuck it away, but i can't tell anything, because it works anyway. i think i remember +/- from windows.

the screen thingy is a cursor and the pause thingy is an icon.

if hans is there, why should you buffer yourself? oh, i didn't mean that the way it sounds. i mean, can't he buffer for you?

k3n 10-23-2009 10:00 AM

sandpat 10-24-2009 06:21 AM

JoanneS 10-25-2009 07:59 PM

The cat video IS the funniest ever, but the exchange between BFW and K3N had me ROTFLMAO. I now have a new word in my vocab that I can scream out loud - Oh Buffer.

butterflywing 10-26-2009 12:05 PM

Thanks for asking, BFW. I'm going to hijack your thread to answer.

I'm home - we had an AWESOME cruise along the Atlantic coast of Europe - 2+ weeks. I really needed the vacation, and it was beyond our expectations. We were up every day at 6 or 7am for breakfast and then on shore for walking & hiking tours of marvelous places. I even made it halfway up and back DOWN Mont St. Michel - which for me and my knees was a major accomplishment!

A week after we returned, we drove to Annapolis for a Navy reunion which was also awesome. Hadn't seen some of the people for more than 40 years!

Now I'm home, and I finished the Dear Jane Xmas blocks today. A burst of energy! I posted a picture in the DJ Xmas block thread.
