The best christmas in a long time,...told to me :)

hi, it's your mousiest friend again. :)
Remember the mouse who's
mother made a quilt for mousie's oldest brother?
(and she's legally blind?)
I talked to her on the phone today and she said she had one
of the best Christmases in years.
We were not able to go visit in person, but keep in touch
by phone often.
My niece and a friend Melissa live near by my mother and
help watch out for her.
They took some gifts to her and told her about a poor
family they were taking some gifts to, bc the children didn't
even have a Christmas tree!
My mother was already going along for lunch and said she
would like to give the children something also.
She had made some medium sized pillows and just happened
to have two pillowcases,
one for a boy and one for a girl: perfect! :)
She didn't know that these kids lived just down the road.
The children didn't know they were having visitors.
Melissa is a very sweet, caring person and gifted the little boy
with a Nintendo. He was over the moon!
The little girl had wished for some charter books, bc even at 6
years old, she is very bright and loves to read.
There were some other smaller things and my mother gifted
them with her self made pillows and cases.
These children were ecstatic!
They didn't own pillows to sleep on
They hugged everybody five times. :) :) :) :) :)
My mother said, "This is what Christmas is all about." :p
My mom, my niece and Melissa went about the rest of their day
and had a wonderful time at lunch and played games at my
mom's house later.
She said it was a Christmas to remember and she slept last night
better than she had in a good while.
A good story shared, spreads the warm and fuzzies.
I wasn't there, but I was blessed by the sharing.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas too.
:)

Wonderful true story! You and your mother are indeed blessed. I'll bet those kids were really over the moon and more grateful for the kindness than most of us even dream of being. Imagine being thrilled to get a pillow and pillow case for Christmas! Brings tears to my eyes.

Yes, that was a Christmas to remember!

Wonderful story Mousie. I have seen where you have posted, unable to post to you until now. I use to be Jingleberry. Now just Jingle.
Good to see you are doing well.

thank you everybody.
I just knew a story like this had to be shared.
Jingle I know who you are sweets, and so happy to
share a little warmth with you all in this chilly season
:)

Oh Mousie, that does make chills run down my spine.....your mom had some kind of intuition that those pillows and pillowcases were needed. May God bless her and your niece and Melissa for doing this for that family!

When our youngest daughter was about 12 two granddaughters stayed with us while their mother worked. Any two of them could get along fine but add the third and you had bickering and fussing so one Saturday morning I had reached my limit and I got two loaves of bread dough out of the freezer and got them involved and while they decided what shape to make the bread I made a pot of homemade soup that everyone liked/ When it was done I suggested that they take one loaf of bread and a big container of the soup down to our bedfast neighbor, which they did. The old couple thanked them profusely and it became a Saturday ritual, bread or rolls made up in different shapes or into cinnamon rolls and a pot of soup or stew. It was a great help to the lady of the house as she was worn to a frazzle taking care of her husband and it was a great treat to him to have these pretty young girls with smiling faces come to visit every week and bring goodies. one of those girls operated a gluten free bakery for a while and that was her and that was her inspiration. All three still remember what fun they had and I remember the end of the bickering.

kindness, generosity, and sharing are great lessons to be learned... and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. people, in general, really appreciate the personal time spent. thanks for sharing these great stories.

Oh, Mousie, what a great story. Your Mom is right, that is what Christmas is about. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year!!!!!

I love your story. This is what we all should be doing or wish I had done instead of just sitting around missing my family.

A lesson for the next opportunity.
