Beware of Wallmart phishing scam

I received an email this morning from Walmart thanking me for my order for a very expensive tv - I was instantly alarmed then I noticed that the email said Wallmart (yes two LL's) so I went to the real Walmart page and it said that a big phishing email scam went out today - no one was charged for anything and credit cards were not compromised but they are asking that you change your password if you have an account.

This is the first time I've ever had this - so please do not click on the Wallmart email.

And if you get one from Mall-Wart, you know it is fake!! LOL!

thanks. I don't. I have been getting some from subway and I don't go there, nor do they have my email.

I get a lot of junk mail like that. Usually if you hover the mouse over the sender's name, it will give you the real address it came from. They try to make it look like genuine. You just have to be careful and check before opening. Never click on a link they send you - like if they say there's a problem with your order. You should always open a new internet explorer window and manually get to their website.

Just to give you all a "heads-up" - I have one credit card that I rarely use - I used it to ordered something from Walmart for my niece. Next thing I know, I am getting an email from Bank of America telling me that my card had been compromised. Someone had charged $1500 in airline tickets, some music downloads from Walmart, and some Skype calls. The bank denied the charges for airline tickets and the music downloads and credited my account for the Skype calls . I had to close my account and open a new one with new cards. But my point to you is that the only place I used that card in over a year, was Walmart. Walmart never notified me that there had been any problem. Wouldn't they know??? I will not order from their website anymore. I am not a Walmart fan to begin with; this just reduced my opinion of them even more!

I just ordered something from WM and noticed they had an old Amex card of mine stored on their website. I deleted it, even though the exp. date was past.

my husband got an email yesterday dated today. Check your dates to before even opening them for fear of a virus. If you get an email from someone that says "NO SUBJECT" send it directly to your junk/spam. Also never open them up even at a later date. It's like a forgotten leftover, "What is it? If in doubt throw it out!"

We just have to be so careful, and it is wise that if it looks wrong - it is. And good advice from katier825. NEVER open a link in a email - your bank, your credit card companies, paypal, investment firms, DO NOT put links in their emails. They always direct you to go to their website and enter your login info. That is one of the most COMMON fraud practices.

I am wondering if Bank of America has been compromised as I received an email from them a few weeks back asking if I charged x amount of dollars. I called them to find out what was going on and it turns out the charge was from Bangeldash and they immed. cancelled my card and issued me a new one.
