My DGD turned 6 a week ago. She has been asking for a hamster for a couple of months now so I took her to the pet store and we got one. He is a great little pet, but I don't think he realizes the great danger lurking outside his cage. Rest assured we are watching this situation close, but I don't think her cats like the new pet. Or maybe they like him too much. :-) :-)

Oh Oh.. better keep a very close eye on this .. trust me...been there done that... :wink: LOL

We raised the Dwarf Hamsters......two got lose....and scared the cat....:-)...had to go buy a live trap to catch them....

My kids used to have hamsters, gerbils, etc when they were little, and the cats would sit right on top of the cage. lol!!!!

And.... the first one my son got was suppose to be a boy - had babies not long after we got it. So your DGD might get a bonus.... lol!!!!

hampsters are so fun. i especially love the teddy bear ones. I had one when i was a kid. his name was elvis.....

Way too cute!! I love hamsters, they are sooo cute. I had three different ones growing up, and my cats thought they were entertaining too!!

Well.............The hamster got out last night. DD was feeding him and he ran up her arm and was loose. In a house with a few cats that want to eat him. The instructions I got with him said robo hamsters are impossible to catch if they get loose. After 45 minutes DD did catch him and put him back in his cage. Never tell her anything is impossible cause she will prove you wrong. My DGD woke up this morning and got to pet her hamster and will never know how exciting last night was. Oh, and the cats are very sad the hamster is back in his cage. Tee hee.
